I think this set is durable enough although it really is meant to be used on a stove of some sort. The non-stick material so far is very nice. The fire would turn the outside very black and messy but I believe it would work if you really wanted it to.

They are non stick, not good for open flame, I haven't tried them yet and may return as i wanted them for campfire cooking.... but good size family pots..and not to heavy..but the non stick..i didn't see that in the description...or i would have picked something else. generaly speaking open flame is too hot for non stick pots.

I'd say NO! it started flaking on me the first time I used it. I was cooking on a camp stove.

It should be. As with almost any cookware, you should have a little space between the item and the flame, especially on a camp fire. If you have never cooked over a camp fire make sure to give yourself enough space so as not to burn the pot and the food!

I am careful about getting the flame too close to the pots and pan themselves. They will get smoky but they can be cleaned. Most of the heat of a fire is about 3-4 inches above the flames anyway. So to answer your question, I use mine over open flames but I set them above the main fire being sure to keep them out of flames or wood. This is where discretion is the better part of valor comes in.  Watch them and you will quickly learn the limits on what you can and can&#39;t do with them. But you are not going to go wrong picking these up.

Is this set durable enough to cook over open flame (campfire, not stove)

The handle is detachable and its used on all 3 pieces.

Handle is removable and can be used on two of the pots/pans. You slip it in, lift it where you need to and then take it off. It won't stay on so I just kept it to the side. Just left it in the box with all the utensils.

As well all 3 of the pots nest in each other with the lids, which makes packing them SOOO much easier.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter, and she was very happy with how compact the design was. She is just starting to camp with her family and every little space saved really helps.

Love this set, not happy with Handle, think coleman needs to redesign the attachment for handel. Be careful not to lift by handle .  Pans are a great size a0nd meet all needs!

We have a new induction stove top in our van and bought this for the light weight and compact storage. With the first use of the frying pan we were disappointed. We used plastic utensils and the pan still scratched and coating chipped. Even if you want to claim user error it should not not have been so easily damaged. The small saucepan we used to boil water which was good and then for one meal. We even switched to a silicone utensil and it still chipped and the coating bubbled up.  Also the red paint on the bottom stuck to our new burners and is hard to scrub off. We've used Coleman products for decades and love Moosejaw but this pot set is a real disappointment. I would not recommend it.

Nice concept but a poor product. Does not hold up.

So yes it is non-stick but on first use the non-stick coating literally burned/melted off.  Definately returning this item

My husband bought me this set of pans for us to use with our Coleman camp stove. I I was hoping they would last for a long time so I made sure to use plastic utensils and everything but the first time I used the frying pan the coating came off of the bottom. Great for boiling water and making pasta but I am very disappointed that I can't cook anything else in them.

The big pot can be used anymore.  Under the bottom of the pot burned. I’m wondering if this may not be just a default in that pot particularly.

The handle was my buying point - and it also turned out to be my reason I wasn't pleased with this - the handle comes off, so when you cook, handle is a nuisance -would not recommend

The pan's nonstick layer started to wash off after almost 2 weeks of usage. This is totally unacceptable.  How can I use this frypan now. I am in doubt that, rest pots will also face the same.
