No real sheath. Just a plastic covering to cover the edge.

mine came with a black plastic cover for the blade.

dOES THE cOLEMAN CAMP AXE COME WITH A SHEATH?

A knife specialty store should have a sheath. Or go to a leather bounder and have them fabricate one.

which i did but the hatchet is junk go to a flea market and buy a hatchet head then match it up with a handle and u will be better off

I needed something to chop roots where I wanted to lay bricks and this is perfect. I'm 70 and I can handle this easily and it does exactly what I needed it to do.

Small axe, great for backyard gardening problems

good enough for chopping  roots to clear a spot for my garden. for the price you won't  care if you abuse it,  better than a shovel  for removing shallow root systems, if you ever had to clear one  inch thick roots ,sharpened up good with file .

GOOD PRODUCT

I bought this Coleman hatchet in 1996.  I'm still splitting firewood with it today.  It picked up some surface rust after a few years but I never cleaned it or put oil on it.  Keep it sharp and be safe.  Don't expect a small hatchet to split large (9" ) logs or knotted / twisted logs.

Good to go after 25 years of occasional use!

This ax is perfect for me and for all i need it for it is heavy so it will hit the mark needs to be sharpened but for $6.00 and change i was surprised at what i got for the money I plan to use the stone i sharpen my lawn mower with to sharpen the edge of the ax!

I love my Coleman Camp Axe. The only complaint is it could have been sharper. It came pretty dull. If you have no problem sharpening a blade then this is the best camp axe for the value.

The size says it all. Only works for chopping small branches. The price was great but not very useful.

Steel seems good but the handle is a weird material feels weird and has a terrible odor that gives me a headache, also needed to sharpen the axe, came pretty blunt

This is obviously a hatchet, not an axe. That and the $5 price should have warned me. Bought it brand new and took camping to try. The edge is so dull it's like chopping with a hammer.  You'll break the wood by blunt force before you chop through it. The novelty wore off quickly with our young kids, who got frustrated after eagerly waiting their turn. Might be usable but only after some serious power grinding, assuming the steel is any good. Hard to believe Coleman put their name on this.

will not hold a edge and is very poor materials they used to make it i have used it 15 times on one inch saplings and after cutting threw one i have to resharpen it

My husband and I were looking for something to split some wood approximately 6" - 8" in diameter for when we went camping...
I got this and to my surprise it broke right where the indent thing is on the head of it, after only a couple of times of using it!!! Maybe it was just a defective one or something but I can not bring myself to getting another one... Guess the old saying is true... "YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR".
So now I'm looking for something better, if you want better then you must be willing to ante up for quality...
Enough said about that....
