Yes. The cord comes apart for use on the vehicle and put together it plugs into a regular outlet. At least on ours it did.

Yes it comes with the car charger attached to the cooler but also comes with the 110 converter.

Mine did not and I'm having trouble locating one. It's weird that mine didn't and everyone else's did. I wonder if they just forgot to include it.

No. It's not needed, as it never gets cold enough to freeze. If ice does collect on the heat-sink fins inside the top, turn it off for 5 minutes, and it melts off. It will be about 32 degrees cooler inside, than the outside air around it.

The Coleman PowerChill does not have a temperature cutoff switch, nor does it have an adjustment switch for greater or lesser cooling capabilities. You plug it in, it's on; you unplug it, it's off.

I don't think so. It is made to automatically keep inside temp cooler than room temp.

It does not and runs continuously, altho, not noisily. If you use it continuously, you should open it a couple of times a day so it does not freeze up and, especially, do not keep it outside running in cold weather since it cools to a certain number of degrees below current temperature (I forget exactly how many, but it's about 20-30).

No. Ours does not. When plugged in will cool to the max in 3 hrs. If the temp is 80 degrees F, the cooler will be about 40 degrees F.

A friend told me they had one that cooled and warmed and sometimes they got the connection wrong and arrived at their destination with cooked contents when it was supposed to be cooling. I pretty much have access to microwave ovens when I travel so I'm glad I didn't get the heating one.

We purchased this cooler for the sole purpose of an upcoming vacation to Vermont where our room had no fridge. We like to try and eat healthy while saving money on eating out so we take our own food with us most of the time. This cooler met all our expectations. We took a butt load of food that needed to stay cool. It ALL FIT! The drive was over 8 hours and the car adapter worked great while we traveled to our destination. The added bonus of a wall outlet adapter is what turned this into the perfect travel cooler. We kept it plugged in either in the car or the room for about 5 days straight and never did it fail to keep our perishables safe.

Two things to keep in mind. It does take a little time to cool down, so plug it in BEFORE you stuff it. Also, keep the space by the fan on the inside of the cooler as free and clear as you can. One time we had it blocked by a freezer bag and the cool air started to diminish. I think for the $100 we paid, this thing will be an awesome and extremely used investment. The only reason I did not give it all 5's is I have no idea how long it will last. We have only used it once, so are not sure if it will continue it's high performance or if it will get weaker and crappier as time goes on. If so, how long will it take to do so? Only time will tell...till then, we're going to enjoy the tasty ride!

Iceless 40qt. Cooler

This is the third Coleman 40-quart cooler I have purchased over the past 15 years. We have to travel with medicine that is required to be kept cold. This cooler does the trick. I put a couple of frozen blue ice containers in it and the medicine stays cold even when we had parked for a while and the cooler is off.

Great for keeping food and medicine cold.

The cooler does just what it is supposed to do and it does it well. I live in the desert southwestern US and this is a necessary piece of equipment for a grocery run, without it I would never be able to stop at more than one store. It is also perfect for those doggie bags that would otherwise never make it home safe to eat. I use it rather than an ice chest to transport supplies to my second home and it is so much easier to deal with. I do have a mid size SUV which allows me to always keep it in the car. Oh and it is perfect for those Dr. visits where they don't want a list of your meds. but for you to bring all of the actual meds. with you. To have them in a hot car for any length of time would destroy them.

I am sure that it will more than pay for itself over its lifetime.

We are really hard on coolers, as teachers we camp and travel all summer. We bought this cooler to replace one just like it that we had for 6 years. It goes from the vehicle to the campsite/hotel with ease thanks to the power cord adapter. We have never had food spoil even when we camp in the Florida Keys in August. It will keep your food cold. Here is my advice to get the most from your cooler: 1) Plug your cooler in the night before you use it to get it nice and cold. 2) Use a separate drink cooler if you are using it in warm weather and you have kids that are going to be in and out of it often. This will lengthen the life of your cooler and keep it running efficiently. 3) periodically clean the intake vent especially if it is sitting outside for any period of time (ie camping).

WE LOOKED EVERYWHERE FOR THIS AND FOUND JUST WHAT WE NEEDED AND WERE LOOKING FOR AT WAL MART AND THE PRICE WAS A GOOD PRICE COMPARED TO OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ITEM IT FITS JUST RIGHT WHERE WE NEEDED IT TO FIT IN OUR VAN. YES I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE WHO HAS A NEED FOR A 12V ICE CHEST.

I'm a trucker driver that depends on a cooler to keep my food fresh. This is my second cooler, the first one lasted 3 years. I run it 24/7..3 yrs of service for $100 you can't go wrong.

Bought this coleman cooler back in 1997 and it still work great and I  have used it alot and l have loaned it out also.  This 5640A model coleman does not make any more. But I tell this, I had no problems with it. In fact, I just did a 1600 mile trip from Texas with the temperature where over 100 degrees and it took me too days this July 2023.

Item was packed well and ship to store once again exceeded all expectations. However, the product literature stated the cooler would achieve 40 deg below ambient temp. I tested this by placing a single 12oz rm temp bottle of water. the ambient temp was 72 deg (inside house), the target temp was 32deg but after 24 hrs of cooling the lowest temp was only 38deg. The temp dropped from 72 to 50 within 2 hrs but then progressed extremely slowly. Got it the literature states the cooler is not a refrig but I expected better cooling performance. With that said, the unit is constructed very solid and I expect that I'll get many yrs of reliable service.
