My newly 5 year old daughter (and her same-aged cousin) really wanted roller skates. I almost bought the usual kind, one size with laces, then saw these at walmart.com. These are so much better because they have buckles instead of laces so my daughter doesn't need my help to put them on. Also, I'll get years out of these since the size is adjustable. My daughter has smaller than average feet, and on the smallest setting, they fit her just fine. (she's not quite a toddler 10). The buckles can be tightened pretty well, so I think they would even be comfortable for a child who is as small as a toddler 9. She hasn't taken them off since she got them! I highly recommend them!

My 4 year old loves these skates! I thought she might have a hard time since they are her first pair, but she's done really well with them. I love that they are adjustable so she'll be able to use them for a couple of years. They adjust very easily. They are a little taller than some of the beginner skates, so a "fall" is a little further to the ground!

My daughter is in toddler size shoes, would the 10-13 be smaller then the 1-4? The J is throwing us off? Thanks
by hollymama 11/3/2009
  • Yes, the 10-13 sizes are smaller than the 1-4. I purchased the 1-4 size for my 8 yr old daughter and she loves them!

  • Yes, 10-13 is for little girls. Mine is 5 yrs. and these fit well. She's about a 10-11 shoe. (Maybe the J is for Junior.)

  • It threw me too. The J is for junior. I bought the 10-13 for my little one who wears a size 10 sneaker (age 5) and also purchased the 1-4 for my older child who wears a size 1 (age 6).
