Overall Great Knives

Chicago Cutlery is one of the better cutlery choices out there behind Cutco and Wolfgang, but for the price you can't beat it. Some people may worry about a slippery handle with the stainless, worry not. Knives are extremely sharp, and stay sharp with a quick slide through the sharpener after every couple of uses. I was afraid the block would look too big on the counter with it being 8 steak knives wide, but everything looks proportional. If you looking for a great knife and a great value you found it! Highly recommended!

This is a razor sharp set that has eight steak knives instead of just the normal six. The handles are all one piece with the blades and are super durable. This is the dream set of knives and are a super value for the money. My entire family loves this set. What more can I say?

I would like to buy a Chicago Cutlery set but I need to know how many knives are serated. I don't like serated blades. Too hard to sharpen!

  • No, the only knife that has a serrated blade is the bread knife. All of the rest of the blades are not serrated and sharpen easily with the inblock sharpener.

  • Only the bread knife has the serated blade. The rest stay close to razor sharp as long as you take the two seconds after every couple of uses to slide them through the sharpener.

  • The cutting edge of the steak knives are serrated and the bread knife is serrated. All other knives in this particular set have a smooth edge.

  • I bought this set for my parents. They have run them thru the dishwasher and they rusted immediately. So, I suggest to adhere to the company's reccomendation and hand wash and dry.

  • These knives are dishwasher safe with the stainless steel tang going through the handle. I do not however put them in the dishwasher. First and foremost, the heat is hard on them and will take years off, just like any other knife. Also they are very sharp and unless you are very careful can easily be cut by them.

  • They are dishwasher safe. BUT you really should handwash and dry them after using them. It will keep them from rusting. Plus, putting your knives in the dishwasher causes them to dull much faster and usually cuts their "life" down considerably.

  • Yes; the set of cutlery referenced is dishwasher safe. Chicago Cutlery does recommend, to keep the product in its best condition, that the cutlery be hand washed and dried after use.
