Char-Griller 725 sq. inch Outlaw Charcoal Grill, Black 4.3 5 51 53
Exceptional grill I simply LOVE everything about this grill. It was packaged well and assembly was pretty easy. It is the star of the neighborhood. My Outlaw grill really holds a lot of food and cooks beautifully. 05/06/2009
I knew what I was getting Chargriller design is pretty standard thru most of the grill models. I chose the Outlaw because of the larger cooking area. I got the SFB from another source. Came thru Site to Store in fine shape and very quickly (4 days). Solidly built unit with a few minor flaws in fit (slight warpage/gaps between bottom and top halves). Much better to deal with that than to spend $700 for the next step up.I did quite a bit of research on forums dealing with smokers so I knew what I was getting and what to expect. Was able to put it together by myself in about 2 hours. The spacer between the SFB and leg brace for stabilizing were too long. Used a Dremel tool to shorten to 7/8 inch and they work perfectly. Also used the Dremel to grind the 10 small compression welds off the "footballs" on both units, then a 2X4 and heavy hammer to finished the job. Everything else was pretty straight forward.Modification: Turned the coal grate in big box over to use as a baffle to disperse heat better. It can be turned back over to use the cook chamber as a grill. Ran aluminum dryer vent from exhaust stack down to grate level to keep more heat in unit. Raised coal grate in SFB above slide out ash tray for easy ash removal without losing heat and to allow more air under coals. Made a coal basket to keep coals from spreading out too much. Also added 2 quality therms to lid just above grate level, one 6" from SFB and one 6" from right side of smoker box. Future plans are to replace the wheels with something more robust. If you're going to use the Outlaw without the SFB. only the vent extension is recommended. Mine is going to be a dedicated smoker so these have been highly recommended on several forums and are not hard to do. Do some research there rather than rely JUST on purchase reviews. One more seasoning burn to go then the spare ribs will go on for my first cook. I'm confident this unit is going to put out some fine smoked goodies. 07/07/2010
Overall Nice Grill for the money!! This grill was very easy to assemble, The instructions say it takes 2 people, I was able to assemble on my own. Construction is very sturdy.I like the fact that this has Cast iron grills, I did have a couple issues with the grill, The grill supports need to be a little wider, I had an issue with the grills in the center falling off the supports because of the center of the bottom of the grill being bowed out, this was easily fixed with a couple of wood clamps to draw the center back in. The other issue is on the charcoal pan, the weld broke on one of the supports for the height adjusters.I have used this grill 3 times since purchasing, and I am liking it more with every use, this grill holds heat very well.....I am stricktly using this for grilling. But if you wanted to smoke meat without the extra firebox, this grill would be large enough using a wood chip smoker box, and a small modification to the exhaust stack.....ChuckWagon Dave 03/29/2011
Great Grill I did my research and read many reviews. This is a HUGE grill - maybe a little more than I actually need. I could NOT beat Walmart's price! I did the ship-to-store and could not find it for less. As with other reviews, the box was slightly damaged. I put it together myself. The plastic wheels are hollow and cannot hold the weight. One cracked after 1-2 uses. I called the manufacturer and was immediately sent another wheel and a replacement grill plate that had arrived damaged. The wheel was the wrong size but I just decided to go out and buy some solid replacements for about $15. I added the smoker unit and found that on sale for $39. Overall, this grill is awesome. You can cook a LOT of food on this. I've done ribs, burgers, steaks. I've smoked a 9 pound pork roast - DELICIOUS! Chargiller was a lot more solid than other brands. The smaller units would probably be sufficient unless you cook for crowds. ENJOY! I am! 03/01/2011
