I just purchased this scope. This is my second one, the first I put on my 30 06 zeroed it in and it performs perfectly. My wife had NEVER shot a large caliber rifle. I took her to the range told her what to do and she hit the target dead on at 100 yards. I bought the second one to put on my 7mm mag and cant wait to site it in. Bottom line if you shoot paper alot, go buy a higher end scope. If your a hunter this scope will be more than enough at a great price!!

I bought this for my son's .17 HMR. I bought cheap and expected an average or less quality as this was a beginner for my son. We have now had it two years, have used it in all climates from 8 degrees to 95 degrees, and have had no hangups. If has outperformed my $200 Bushnell and my dad's even more expensive Redfield. The illumination options of red and green in different levels or no illumination was a plus for my son as it got him more interested in target shooting and shooting in general. It is waterproof and can take bumps typical of hunting pretty well. There are better scopes but at a much steeper price. I used this at 600 yards to see if it was capable and was really amazed. I now have one on my 300 Remington Ultra Magnum and it seems to take the shock quite well after a day at the range.

can i put this on my savge axis 308,how good can you see at 500 yards, and can it hold up to 308 ammo?and can it hold its zero at 100 yards
    by an anonymous customer 12/27/2011
    • I do a lot of airgun shooting and this scope holds up to any magnum break barrel airgun out there. I have one of these on a Ruger Air Magnum and it is the only scope this airgun has not destroyed. So yes, a .308 caliber rifle will not phase it as far as recoil is concerned.

    • This is not one question. You can put it on your Savage 308. If the Savage does not have Weaver - Picatinny rails you will need to purchase one inch scope rings to mount on you rifle. How well you can see at five hundred yards is subjective. How well I can see is not an indication of how well you can see. The .308 ammo in any load strength would not be a problem for this rifle. Although the scope should hole its zero at 100 yards I am unable to speak for any specific scope. If it does not hold its zero you have a warranty issue and should return the scope or seek warranty repair.

    • You should be able to use it for your specified purposes. I have mine mounted on a Marlin XL7S chambered in .30-06 and shoot Buffalo Bore heave ammo. These are very powerful rounds with a substantial recoil. To date no problems.

    • I had good luck with it on my .223 but it just would not hold up to my .308 with muzzle break. Yes you can see well out to 500 yrds.

    • buy you a bunch of bulk ammo take it to the range and find out if it is right for you. If it is not just take it back to walmart and get your money back. I put it on my dpms 5.56 and it works fine. I would not have a problem shooting 500 yards away at a deer sized target, but anything smaller good luck.

    • look at my picture in this reply. this was done at 100 yards with a .308 and done at 10x magnification. this scope has a huge problem with parallax so you cant use it at any higher power than 10 otherwise your group will open up to 4 inches. the last scope i bought just like this was trash. for me this scope has held its zero and its illumination is acceptable. if your trying to push to 500 yards then find a better scope. the glass on this is trash. and you can mount any scope on any gun just need the proper hardware.
