Great fun First off, I would like to say that I have never had fun playing board games before. They've lasted too long and were really boring. I'm talking, of course, about games like Monopoly, Risk, and Chess. These are the board games that people think about when they hear the term "Board games". For this reason, it took me a while to work up the courage to purchase this game, because I didn't expect it to be very much fun. I couldn't have been more wrong.The moment I took this game out of the box and played a game with my brother, I was hooked. The game only lasts about 45 minutes, it's fast paced, and it's easy to learn but difficult to master. I've never had so much fun playing a board game. I even showed this game to my friends, who were skeptical beforehand, and they love it too. In fact, I had so much fun that I wanted to play it a second time after that first game. No other game has captured me this way.This is a great game to buy as a gift or even for yourself. It's as entertaining as a video game, but without the eye strain and solidarity of playing it by yourself in a darkened room. An absolute blast for the family, I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone willing to give board gaming a second chance.P.S. There are also many expansions for this game that add more replay value and fun to this already spectacular game.5/5 07/11/2009
Easy to learn, impossible to master This game is fantastic. The rules are VERY simple and anyone can play. What is great is that the game changes depending on who is playing. Strategy or simple fun, either way the game has a simplistic way of laying tiles down thus making for an addictive style of play. since the tiles are shuffled and randomly picked, you basically get a differnt game EVERY time you play. Average play time for 2 people is about 45 minuntes. the game goes faster with more people as the amount of tiles played with doesnt change. I Highly reccomend this game 10/10/2009
very good game it's so good i decided to get most of the expansions as well. Look for the Carcassonne Big Box 2 as well (which includes this), is a much better value. 08/13/2010
Best game ever I have owned this game now for about a month and it has seen more play time than all my other board games (and they are many) combined. It is a simple and fun game for the whole family and only gets better as you add some of the many expansions available. Do your research when going to buy the expansions though, because not all are created equal. I believe most would agree that the Builders and Traders Expansion as well as Inns and Cathedrals are both excellent. Not only has my family fallen in love with this game, but many of my friends are becoming addicted as well. I highly recommend this game. 02/01/2012
