    A great camera This takes great pictures and the HD video looks great. Bought this for my wife. We bought another brand because it was cheaper and the pictures looked good in the store. But once out of the store we discovered that it only took good pics with lots of light so we took it back. This camera has no problems. Most of the other cameras put buttons right where you instinctively put your thumb to hold the camera. This is designed very well. My only con is that although the video looks great, there is no sound. But I bought it to take pictures. If I had wanted a video camera I would have bought one. My advice is if you want great pictures then buy from a camera company like canon or nikon. Don't buy a camera from a company that makes dvd players. Canon and Nikon develop their chips for their high end SLR's then use the same chips in cameras like these. The other companies won't have that kind of technology in their cameras. This doesn't take as good a picture as my Nikon D90 but it's really good. Unless you are willing to spend $900+ on a camera and want to use a full size SLR camera, you can't get any better than this. 08/23/2009
    Yes But At the end of April I bought this camera and - foolishly - took it on my vacation. On the plane it acted strangely cycling through menu options when I tried to select one. When I called Canon, the man who answered told me I had damaged the camera by taking it through airport security!I took lots of pictures and got it home. I tried uploading my photos to my computer as I had always done with each of my previous digital cameras by inserting the sd card into my card reader and dragging the folder of pics to my Mac desktop. Over a third of the images on the first two sd cards were corrupted! When I called Canon a second time, I again felt the customer service person was of no help. I returned the camera!After much shopping I bought a second camera JUST LIKE the first. I have not taken the second one on a trip, but I have carried it in my pocket with me almost every day for the past three weeks. It is red! It is small. It is light weight. It takes good pictures. It cost less than any of my previous cameras. By uploading my photos daily, I have not had a problem with corrupt files. I have not had occasion to call Canon. I am very happy with it!A few days ago I installed the software that came with the camera. I inserted my vacation sd cards into the new camera and connected the camera to my computer using the USB cable. ALL of the photo files uploaded without any problem. A month after returning from my vacation I have all my pics, and I didn't even have to pay $100 for software to recover them!The manual that comes with this Canon PowerShot SD780-IS Red 12.1MP Digital ELPH Camera w/ 2.5" LCD explains how important it is to press the shutter half way to focus the camera before actually taking a picture. When I remember to do so, I get sharp, attractive photos. It especially likes to take pictures of people. The internal facial recognition software produces great people photos. 06/25/2009
    the best one for canon this is the newest canon product out there. i have used it to two different concerts and works amazing. this camera is my new favorate camera. i am very glad i bought it through walmart because if i bought it at best buy i would have over paid for the same product that works exactly the same. 05/04/2009
    Convenient - Quality Pictures After familiarization at home I took this to Italy. I am sending this review from there. I like the size - it fits in a pocket, weighs nothing and is always ready for use. I love the viewfinder for those sunny days when the LCD is difficult to see. I carry a spare battery but am able to charge overnight (the charger is dual voltage and just requires an adapter to plug it in here, no transformer) and have yet to use it. Great pictures coupled with convenience what can you ask for. I am not a fanatic so I just use "Auto" and when necessary turn off the flash when flash pictures are a problem. 10/09/2010
