After returning the Nikon D3000 the morning after I purchased it, I bought this camera. I used to own a Canon Rebel xti, I should have just stuck with what works in the first place! This camera is AMAZING! The pictures are so beautiful, crisp, and clear! I would reccomend to anyone! Easy to use, but it also has a lot of options for the more advanced photographer, unlike myself!

    Really Nice Camera!

I was on the fence about upgrading to this camera from my Canon Rebel XS. I'm really glad I did. The images appear much sharper, and much more vibrant from the XS. The nine point autofocus and the two extra MPs does really well! I haven't tried the video (I bought it for the photos) so if your wondering on the quality of the video this review isn't probably for you. Its lightweight, easy to use, and the menus are pretty straightforward. The only con I could find was they moved the card slot from the side to the bottom (with the battery) which is at times.... a little hard to open. Overall it is a really nice camera! I've used several cameras (quite a few in the powershot line, the canon rebel xti, and canon rebel xs) along with the nikon D3000 and D3100, and this out performs all of them by a long shot.

After extensive research I chose this camera for its color saturation, warmth and contrast as compared to two other brands in it's price range (examined raw images of all 3 cameras). I get satisfied results with every feature onboard the T3. I recorded a short video with this camera and was pleasantly surprised. HD quality was prevelant. Be sure and purchase SD card with 16g or higher with a class 6 rating or higher for shooting videos. It will cost more for the SD card but worth it. Been a photographer for 30+ years using SLR film and medium format cameras. Got away from photography for several years and became excited with all the nuance in photo technology. Take my advice and look the T3 over before deciding on your purchase of a DSLR. I have Canon annd Nikon SLR film cameras in my arsenal and have retired both. P.S. spend a little extra and go with a DSLR instead of point and shoot. You'll be glad you did.

    • A. Flash is built in and it is incredibly good and battery-efficient. I DID purchase a Flash Unit when I purchased my 50-300mm zoom lens, but the are times I have used the built-in flash with the zoom lens and have had excellent photos as a result. Extra flash is totally optional and only need to do redirected flash photography or back-flash shots with an external flash unit with adjustable flash head. All depends upon experience and planned projects.

    • A. It has a built-in, automatic popup flash and place to attach a more powerful flash. The built in flash has been fine for my needs with the included lens. I'm just an amateur, but I assume for longer range shots, you'd probably want to buy a more powerful flash.

    • A. The Canon Rebel comes with a battery charger which plugs into the wall and holds the battery taken out of the camera. No camera case comes with Base Camera Kit. Canon EOS lenses are interchangeable and readily available from multiple manufacturers, not just Canon.

    • A. Doesn't come with a case, but it has the small wall charger that you just place the battery into after taking it out of the camera. Yes, you can change the lens...many Canon lenses will fit this camera. It comes with a USB cable, too.

    • A. The camera comes with just a lens and an adapter to charge the battery. You need to purchase your own case. Walmart sells one for about $30. I figured I bought the camera there, so I might as well get the case there as well.

    • A. Lens removes from main body so you can buy telephoto lenses and wide shy lenses. Comes with charger for battery. Charges in about 4 hours. When you first get camera charge overnight then recharge once a week depending on how much you use it.

I have bought the Canon Powershot SX30 IS, and its images were poor quality, so I decided to get a new one .. The SX30 just had no grainy and blurry pictures, and not crisp and clear. I see everyones reviews on here that they like the pictures and they are crisp... My question is do you need to buy Lens to get better pictures with this EOS Rebel, and what kind of pictures does it take without the extra lens, and any examples?? Thanks!

    • A. The pictures are great with this camera, as long as your setup is correct. Aperture and shutter speed along with proper ISO is everything when trying to take good crisp photos.

    • A. I only have the lens it comes with but my photo's have been amazing, very crisp even in lower lighting. It doesn't have much of a zoom so if you want something like that you'll need an additional lens.

    • A. This camera is awesome "right out of the box". No extras needed. I DID purchase a 75-300mm zoom because I shot a lot from 30+ feet away and a lot of field sport events, but for standard family and daily use it is the perfect is out of the box. I have recommended to family and friends and no one has been disappointed. They have all loved it, too.

    • A. Obviously the quality of the pictures will depend on what settings you use, but I can say that with few exceptions, my shots havae been amazingly clear. This shot was a "spur of the moment" shot while in the White Mountains of Arizona.
