I went into a few stores to purchase new silverware. I first looked for ones I liked...then they had to pass the "spoon test". If I could reach in the package and bend the spoon with my fingers, it failed. (The "spoon test" was created when I had an expensive set of silverware and used a spoon to scoop out hard ice cream directly out of the container. It failed...so I went back to using the "cheap stuff"!) You will be pleasantly surprised when you feel the weight of these utensils. People comment on it a lot....but they like it. It makes them feel rich! (probably too much weight for my arthritic Grandma though) The mirror finish is very hardy...as my 3 kids have not yet scratched them. Although I hadn't noticed, my 10 year old pointed out that the tines on the forks are angled at the bottom where they connect to the handle. We all agreed this was very cool. Just wish the price was about $10 cheaper! PS: No worries...I bent all the spoons back into shape before I left! :)

I lost everything and moved into a new apartment near Walmart. I purchased some of the 4 for $1 flatware until I had a job. Then I realized how scratchy they were, would't wash up well and actually cut my tongue! I decided to splurge on this 20 piece set (service for 4) and toss all the bad stuff. I could not have been happier! I'm one of those people that washes dishes before washing in the dishwasher and so after 6 months of daily use you can imagine how much they've been washed! I use every piece and find that it's easy to add another place setting here or there (which I have through another site). I held a very posh dinner party and had people ask me over and over if this flatware was silver! These were rich people asking so they've seen the good stuff. You really get what you pay for in this case and it's wonderful. If you like your flatware durable, shiny washing after washing and a bit heavy in the handle, you will LOVE this set!

I bought this set to replace a older, casual, everyday set that I had for some years and had become tired of. I was looking for a casual and inexpensive flatware set- but not cheap, or cheap looking. This set fits the bill. The pieces are attractive and are are good size weight (I prefer larger & heavier pieces and these qualify). Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. You will be surprised how nicely these compare with sets that a several times the price.

  • The knives do have serrated edges. I have not used them for any cutting, but look like they would do a good job.

  • The knives are not meant to cut meat; they are appropriate for buttering bread.

  • Not really but it is a really nice set. I have steak knives for cutting so it's not a big deal to me.

  • Yes the knives are serrated. I think they're sharp enough. We have steak knives for a more heavy duty purpose. They're good (though not best) quality.

  • Yes, we have had steak and roast beef several times; needed no special knives to cut.

  • Cuts very well as delivered so I would say that the cutting ability has not been an issue.

  • The knives are sharp enough for our use. Probably not good enough to cut through steak but would cut through chicken. The serrated edge doesn't go very deep.
