even the best brand tents (even Coleman) will start to lek over the years, but not if you use this product. We treat the tents very 2 to3 years and we have never had a leak, even during an 8 hour long down pour!

Great tent sealer and very easy to apply. Really like the application sponge. One bottle easily seals a big size family tent.

Make sure you get a seam sealer when you purchase a tent. This is a good product that takes about 2 hours to fully dry, and is easy to apply with the sponge-like applicator under the cap

Coleman Seam Sealer is easy to use, has built in applicator, and does the job. Be novel and read the directions before using. don't "glop" on too much as it takes for ever to dry and is wasteful. This is SEAM sealer and not meant to be an overall waterproofing product. Make sure YOU LET THE STUFF DRY BEFORE FOLDING UP YOUR TENT or what it is you are using it on. failure to do so can be damaging. again, just follow the directions for a change. I sealed every seam in the tent pictured with this review and still had over 75% of the bottle left.

I applied the Coleman seam sealer to a brand new Coleman tent so I can't be certain it was the sealer that worked as opposed to being fortunate enough to purchase a perfect tent. The product was easy to apply and took about 30 minutes. On my first camp out with the new tent, it stormed hard for a couple of hours with strong winds and pouring rain. The tent, a 6-person Instant tent was perfectly dry inside - not one drop of water.

I've a one-person tent. The tape atop the seam of the fly is coming off. I was told to use 'McNett Seam Grip.' Does your product stick the tape down or is it only for the seam itself? Or maybe it does both?

    • A. I don't think this product is strong enough to stick the tape down. I would just use it for the seam itself.

    • A. It is not an adhesive... it is a SEAM SEALER. read the info about the product its plainly states what it is. SEAM SEALER... not FIX A BAD SEAM AND RESTICK TAPE SEALER lol

    • A. Do not use super glue as one person suggested. It is acrylic and becomes brittle with prolonged exposure to light and heat. It will crack and fail on you. If you are going to use some other glue, use some sort of adhesive with a UV protector in it that will stay flexible in time.

    • A. Should be able to stick the tape down with this. Just apply along the seam and place the fly back over it. However Superglue may work better

    • A. Not sure whether it would stick the tape back down. It is meant to seal up the holes from needle & thread passing through the fabric, to stop rain from leaking into the tent. It is somewhat sticky when it is drying, but probably not enough to hold the tape on.

How many bottles/cans are going to be needed for a 20' X 11" tent?
    by an anonymous customer 1/4/2011
    5 answers
    • A. Go to LOWES and buy some SCOTCH GUARD. This is a small sponge tipped bottle made for seams...NOT entire tents. It's really common sense...SEAM SEALER... not ENTIRE TENT SEALER.

    • A. I used 3/4 of a bottle on a 8x10' tent. You could probably get 2 bottles and be safe. I just put 2 coats of it on the seams on the floor and on the seams of the rainfly.

    • A. I used a little over 1/2 a bottle for just the seams on a two room tent (no idea the dimensions). I wouldn't use it on the entire thing (sides) as it doesn't let that area 'breathe' well.

    • A. It's called seam sealer. You only cover seams, corners, and edges where the rain could leak in through the sewing holes. You only need 1 coat but you can do 2 if you're afraid. For that size tent I think you'd be fine with 1 bottle.
