Rated 5 out of 5★ by gusset2 A great camera. It takes good pictures at night and day. It actually takes pictures beyond distances advertised- especially during the day. It is fairly complex, especially as a beginner, so you must read the manual. Use a sandisk SD card. They are more rugged. My first SD card was not sandisk and lasted 2 days. Adjust the camera for one shot per trip or you'll get a lot of useless pictures. This camera costs more than the one Walmart has in the stores, but it is well worth the money. I have had both. It is more complex and more durable. The people at Bushnell will help you with any problems you have. 09/18/2012
Rated 2 out of 5★ by mainjet Quit after 4 months Bought this in December. It looked pretty good and initially took good pictures. Very happy with the daytime pictures and the night pictures were pretty good. When it comes to the quality of the photos for the price I cannot complain.I left this outside on the tree from December through April. It worked very well until probably February and then I started to notice that I didn't have very many pictures on the card for the time that it was in the woods. This continued to get worse until I had only three pictures taken in one burst in a 2 week period. Now I knew something was wrong so I brought the camera home to check it. It would only turn on occasionally but when it did it showed full battery. However, even when it did turn on it would not take pictures. Just in case, I decided to change the batteries and it did the same thing. So I am sending it back to Bushnell. Hopefully they will repair or replace it free of charge except for the return shipping. All in all I got about 2.5-3 solid months of use from it. But now I have to send it back and they say it will be about a month plus I have to pay for the return shipping. taking all that into consideration I cannot recommend this camera to anyone. I guess you get what you pay for.On the up side, the battery life was very good using the batteries that they recommend. Keep in mind that you will also need to buy a quality SD card and that is a fair amount of money also. Had the camera continued to operate then I would have been very happy with it in all regards. But when a trail cam that is meant to be left outside in all conditions, quits in just a couple months then it isn't worth the money spent on it whether it be a little or a lot. 04/29/2013

Rated 5 out of 5★ by Papadog54 So far so good Very pleased so far. Had camera in woods about 6 weeks. Fast trigger, clear day and night pictures, very good range. Batteries still show 100%. Have not tried the plot watcher mode yet. Will buy another one soon. 10/28/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by jimcam Very good camera. Easy to program. Takes fine pictures. Bushnell states 9 mo on a set of batteries ? Actually on a set of lithium batteries. Cost of eight lithium at Radio Shack $22.99 v/s cost of eight alkaline batteries at Radio Shack $5.99. Of course you don't have to replace the lithium batteries as often.Other wise it's still a good buy. 06/18/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by ballygaloo Just as I expected I read numerous reviews regarding many different cameras designed for night recording before deciding on the Bushnell. One has many choices and you just hope that you make the right one.One of the reviews I read stated that you have to read and digest the directions very carefully and thoroughly to operate the camera to satisfaction. I found this to be accurate. It is relatively easy to set up although it took reading the instructions several times. It takes 8 AA batteries and a 32GB memory card - all at extra cost. Then you need to buy a card reader to display the pictures on a PC. I am satisfied with this purchase and the photo quality is good during daylight and somewhat less quality at night. It can be set for videos or still photos. The memory card holds many, many, photos. Using it for photos only by movement saves battery life. I've seen deer, skunks, raccoons, and people. One issue is where to mount it and prevent it from being stolen. Remember that to view the activity you must remove the card each time so place it in a convenient mount. 07/06/2014
Rated 2 out of 5★ by billybob2888 Motion sensor inoperative. The X-8 game camera takes nice photos in daylight and at night. Unfortunately the motion sensor was inoperative, which for a game camera is a big problem. Bushnell customer service was helpful and said that the camera should be returned since a new motion sensor is needed and repairs would take quite a awhile to complete. Since the camera seems to have good potential I returned the broken one and ordered another one. Lets hope the new one works as advertised. 05/06/2014
