Bought 2 pair for nephews, who are Scouts. I tried them first and are fantastic. Kids will love them when camping or just looking looking out their back windows at wild animals.

As an optical buff for over 40 years, I can tell you these binoculars have pluses & minuses. On the plus side, they are great for nature & birdwatching; the details "snap" into view & show great contrast. Also, the FOV is fairly wide, so you won't have much trouble locating your subject. On the minus side, there is alot of "edge falloff" in brightness (due to the use of BK7 prisms) and only the center FOV is sharp. Imagine a KK doughnut; the doughnut "hole" is where the image is sharp and the rest of the field (the actual 'doughnut') is blurry. That is a tradeoff you make for a low price. The coatings on the objective lenses appear to be fully multicoated with a dark green sheen; however the eyepiece lenses show multiple reflections which indicates a lack of quality coatings. The binocs also have a tendency to shift focus when you press against the eyepieces; this can be annoying. At night, when viewing the stars & planets, the images are sharp but not very bright & there is a problem with the outer edges of the FOV being "fuzzy." If you are looking for an economical pair of binoculars, this may be right for you. Bird lovers, hikers, ocean dwellers, and hunters can get great use out of these. NOTE: Be warned that with 12x any body movements will be magnified, & if you can't hold these steady, the view will suffer.--RM

My Dad wanted binoculars to watch the birds, deer, and other creatures in the field across the street from his house. This pair was perfect. It allowed him to see more detail on the animals than his old pair (this pair is stronger). He said everything is clear, crisp, and bright.

    • A. Yes, the right eyepiece is adjustable for differences in your eyesight. Leave the right lens cap over the objective while you "center focus" the left eye (don't 'squint' with your right eye; leave it open). Then uncover the right objective, cover the left objective (without touching the center focus knob), & turn the right eyepiece wheel until the view is sharp with your right eye. You have now made the adjustment for your eye difference.

    • A. I checked the minimum focusing distance on my pair of these Bushnell Binoculars with a laser range finder and found it to be right at about 9 yards. I think these would make excellent binoculars for bird watching as I have used them myself for identifying and watching waterfowl. Anything closer than about 8 1/2 yards starts to get blurry, but they are very clear and excellent for distances from 9 to 200 yards or more.
