  • A. Federal Law states 18 for long guns (rifles and shotguns) and 21 for Pistols and NFAs. But make sure to check your State and local laws before.

  • A. I believe if you are 18 and can pass a background check you are allowed. you must be 21 in KY to get a concealed weapons license if you wish to carry a concealed pistol though. Obviously this is a rifle.

  • A. You need to be at least 18 yrs old to purchase this rifle. Looks like your in the clear to go and buy it. They will have you answer some questions to make sure that you have no felonies on your record or any domestic violence cases against you. They will do a on the spot back round reck to verify this, takes only a few moments, then BAM! You can get your AR!

On this gun can you remove the hand rail and front sight to install a red dot or scope.

  • A. Why do you need to remove the HANDLE not rail. Buy a scope setup for the handld. You CAN NOT Take off the front sight...it is part of the gas system...that is what makes the gun go bang! Now, if the handle comes off I'm not sure, Bushmaster would seem to be saying so by saying A3...An A3 is a removable handle but an A1 or A2 is not. One way to tell is look for the screws that hold it to the picitinny rail. Also, you can put a scope on a flat top with a front sight....if the sight gets in the way get a riser for your rail.

  • A. You can remove the hand rail but the front sight you will need some help and maybe some mods. You should really check out Windham Weaponry's Flatop AR-15 it is allready set up for what you need and you could later add a handle and front sight if you wish.

  • A. You can remove the hand guards and replace them with a 2 piece rail system. The carry handle is removable and teh upper receiver has a picatinny rail. The front sight is not removable unless you have the tools and knowledge to do so, or bring the rifle to a gun smith. A scope will have no trouble with the front sight, in fact you won't see it. A red dot, if used properly can co-witness with the front sight and should be blurred out if shooting with both eyes open.

  • A. if the upper is stamped with .223 only then you can should not shoot 5.56 becuase the 5.56 has a higher head pressure then the .223 round but if the upper is stamped 5.56 then you can shoot .223 or 5.56 rounds

  • A. Yes, the rifle can handle 5.56 NATO rounds, the barrel is marked B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9. Yes there is a difference between .223 and 5.56 as 5.56 IS loaded to higher pressures (think of as .223 +p). The Bushmaster 5.56 NATO chamber will have no problem with .223 loads.
