Brother 80-Stitch Sewing Machine, SQ9000

I've made 10 quilts with the machine and it works great. Love it.

I love this machine, I am having so much fun with it. The price was great. I am so glad that I purchased it.

I bought this machine because it was lightweight and I needed something to carry to classes and guilds. After using it for awhile I found that I didn't even want to use my other higher priced machines and I use this machine everyday now. I make quilts and have pieced and quilted to many to count on this machine. This is a little workhorse and has never given me any problems, make sure you use the right bobbin or you will have tension problems. (Ask me how I know) I sew mostly cotton, but have sewn some quilts made of denim. I am very pleased with this machine and you can't beat it at this price. I have used singers and have a Janome machine. I also have 2 Brother embroidery machines and a serger. Brother makes quality machines. This one is light weight which I like for transporting to quilting guilds and like all light weights will shake some when sewing heavy fabrics at a fast speed. It is also very quiet compared to other machines that I have seen. Thank you Brother for making a good lightweight machine that is very affordable.

I have been sewing for almost 10 years now and have had the 14 stitch brother for over 6 years. I decided it was time for an upgrade and after much research decided on this machine. I have had it a week now and I love it! It is a drop bobbin but it is much easier than my mother-in-love's 70's style Singer's bobbin. I am very impressed with the versatility of this machine. - it is simple to use - the automatic threader is awesome! - just like any sewing machine it will "bunch up" or bird nest on you if it isn't threaded correctly (even if it looks right take it out and start over!) just re-thread and your off! - I've played with most of the different stitches and am finding that you have to adjust the tension to get some of them just right, but it's not hard at all and easily moved back into position for a seam. This evening I made a diaper/wipe bag for a soon to be Mom - in less than an hour! I used the over-stitch foot for my seam finishing and still it was so quick! This is a great buy for any one who wants to sew!

I purchased this machine less than thirty days ago. Haven't had a sewing machine for years, so I was excited !! I have all kinds of fun projects planned, and began with great expectation. I have sewn something together about every other day since my purchase. When I opened the box, and started looking at all of the contents, saw that the seam ripper included was broken; but since I already have one thought no big deal. Then while setting the machine up to sew, found that the automatic threader didn't work, thought maybe I was doing something not quite right and would catch on later. Today, the thread began knotting up under the plate at the bobbin/needle site. I cleared everything and re-threaded the needle and the bobbin; about four times before I packed the machine back up in the box. I am returning it to the store tomorrow. Very disappointed, I purchased this Brother machine because I know a few women who love theirs; plus Singer no longer carries with it the reputation it once did.
