The rice came sealed in a plastic bag inside a nice, strong burlap sack with handles and a zipper. The bag can be used for other purposes. The rice was clean and I removed it from the bag and stored it in glass jars. I had gotten used to brown rice grown in the U.S., but stopped due to the arsenic scare. This brown basmati rice is grown in the Himalaya Mountains of India and doesn't have the arsenic. I didn't notice much of an aroma. The rice was easier and quicker to prepare than the brown rice I had been using. I liked the way it fluffed up and didn't stick together as my brown rice had done. Probably there is less starch. Over all I am very happy with this product and will continue using it.

This is probably the 5th or 6th bag of this rice I have purchased. First time from Walmart though. I have done my research and Brown Basmati is most likely the world's healthiest rice. It's a little expensive, but if you buy it in a 10 lb. bag like this it is affordable. I use it mainly to make rice and beans in my pressure cooker. It is a chewy nutty rice and is high in diatary fiber.

This rice is D-licious! And, the aroma when you are cooking it is not as intolerable as regular brown rice. The order came several days before expected. This rice has a decent shelf life of over one year in the package seen in the add.

We eat a lot of rice and have become concerned about the arsenic levels of rice grown in the US, no matter the area in which grown. This is especially true for rice grown in those areas historically used to grow cotton, but is also true, although to a lesser degree, for rice grown in California. Organic arsenic is present in nature, but here we are concerned about inorganic arsenic leached into the soil from the fertilizers and pesticides used in farming. This rice is grown in India and has so far not been found to contain high levels of arsenic. Milling and removal of the outer husk will reduce even these levels, but it also eliminates much of the taste and nutritional value. If you eat a lot of rice, you should consider basmati brown rice.
