Recently I found a recipe for lemon ginger scones (gluten free) and the recipe calls for almond flour. I checked various grocery stores in my area and found that it is available, but it is kind of expensive. I was thrilled when a recent ad from Walmart included Bob Red Mill's almond flour for quite a bit less than the other stores. I went to my local Walmart only to find that it is not available there. I bought some at the other store, made the recipe and was pleasantly surprised that the almond flour adds a wonderful buttery flavor to the scones without using any butter. My husband even liked the scones and he usually doesn't like any of the gluten free products. I will definitely use this flour again and again. I did find out (on this website) that almond flour is available at another Walmart not too far away. I can also order it from Walmart and have it sent to my home.

Paid $3 less for this than at the store in my town. So I bought 5. I am on a low carb life style so I use a lot of almond flour.

I love the almond flour. I.use it for all my baking. Makes great pancakes too. I have celiac so I make my own bread and sandwich buns. I make delicious brownies, cookies and breads. I like using the almond flour so I'm not getting to many carbs. Bobs Red Mill does great in everything I have made..

This is good with a lower cab diet, I use it in pancakes, muffins, granola or cereal bars and even in the crust for the low carb cheesecake. Some recipes you will need to adjust as it has a different consistency than traditional flour. It has a good taste and texture. Helpful with a diabetic restricted carb diet, but expensive. I use part of the almond flour with part of the low carb baking mix, or it is good with coconut flour too.

  • A. No. Almond flour is not interchangeable with wheat flour. Almond flour does not have any gluten and therefore if one were to substitute it for wheat flour the product would not rise and get fluffy like wheat flour..it would be gummy and dense. Some decent wheat-free substitutions for wheat flour are rice or millet flour. Bob's Red Mill also has some gluten-free mixes that contain combos of grain and bean meals to use in place of wheat.

  • A. You could but you're not going to get the same effect as flour since it's just ground almonds.
