This is a great little toaster oven. It's good for one person. Not big enough to cook for multiple ppl so if you want one for more than one person meals you need a bigger one. It's light doesn't weigh much. Looks good. Works great. It cooks best if you put the tray rack on the bottom level and not on the one that's higher. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I did site to store arrived sooner than it said it would which was great.

Really small, but it works so far...

I bought this toaster oven on June 3, 2012. It is really small; it won't even accommodate one of the mainstays square aluminum foil cake pans without having to bend it for the door to close all the way; but this oven does work. It heats up very quickly. The first time I plugged it in, there was a light smoke coming from it but it went away in about 5 minutes. I have heated pre-cooked frozen chicken tenders and cooked french fries in it. I haven't made 'toast' in it yet, but everything else has cooked well. Pros: temperature setting up to 450 degrees F shown stay-on timer setting warm-, broil-, bake-, toast- settings nice stainless steel smooth finish comes with an aluminum tray that can be used as a bake pan if needed Cons: timer ticks if not on stay-on setting very small rounded rather than square surface gets very hot #expected for such an inexpensive oven# Overall, I like this toaster oven except for its size. I wish it were 1 - 2 inches deeper and, I'm not sure how long it will last. I have a Black & Decker mini refrigerator that works really well that I have only had for a couple of months, so, again, I cannot comment on its longevity and I also wish it was a few inches bigger. I had a Haier mini refrigerator that is made by Black & Decker for quite a while that worked flawlessly. Black & Decker has a good reputation so hopefully this unit will last.

great looking toaster oven that DOES NOT heat well

I've owned only Black&Decker toaster ovens for now. Bought this model to match our new kitchen style. What a mistake! I am glad I didn't throw the one we used out yet, goes back to the kitchen. I set the over on 450F and it took 40 minutes to bake sausages and hot dogs. This used to be done on 350F for 20 minutes on our other models, sometimes they got baked little too much. However, on this oven, they barely got baked, the inside still tasted not done! Did try the toast setting for my grilled cheese. I had the sandwich 25 minutes inside; but the bread portions were not even close to crisp on the outside. Yes I did use little of margarine to make them taste as grilled cheese, flipping the sandwich upside down, as I always do in the old toaster oven. I could stick my hand inside the oven and barely feel any heat. The verdict - stay away from this one, mine goes back to the Walmart; though, I love how it looks. This unit could be defective, but I am not risking anymore to buy another one, sorry.

Huge Disappointment

Where do I start? First, it takes FOREVER to toast two pieces of bread. That's because, unlike earlier B-D models that had four heating elements, this model has only two elements, which, in turn, causes the bread to not only take FOREVER to toast, but when it does, it toasts unevenly. Second, it has the irritating feature of automatically turning off in the middle of the toasting cycle only to start up again 30 or more seconds later. As everyone knows, when the toast is left in the toaster after it turns off, the toast gets hard as a brick. So, with this model, you get the equivalent of crunchy zweibach teething toast! Third, the toasting control is "by guess and by golly" -- you literally have to guess where to set the control and in so doing, run the risk of under-toasting or over-toasting, which means you have to personally monitor the FOREVER toasting process to ensure you get the toasting level you desired -- only to find when you see the edges of the toast turning dark that parts of the bread are toasted and others barely toasted. Bottom line: Huge disappointment!

What can you say? Bought this at a local Wal-Mart for one Hamilton and four Martha Bushes - great price, and it was the cheapest on the shelf. Just be aware that: 1) this has a loud mechanical timer that 'dings!' 2) temperature settings may not be calibrated (you do have a digital high-temp thermometer, right?) 3) there is no way that this unit is "Fits up to 4 slices of bread" - no way, unless of course you're talking about those little square loaves of rye or pumpernickel you serve at parties for finger sandwiches, or four small cross-sections of a baguette - this is, in reality, a two-slice toaster for slices from your non-politically correct loaf of gummy but good white bread. You can slide the crumb tray into the bottom of the little rack, which measures 11x8 inches. There are two heating elements, top and bottom. The crumb tray impedes efficient toasting, so take it out if you want to toast both sides of a piece of bread - just make sure the toast is equidistant from the heating elements. I slapped a piece of heavy foil on the crumb tray right out of the box to avoid staining. I will also use an appropriately cut piece of stainless steel mesh to provide better support and heat flow-thru for making pizza. Go to a tile store and get them to cut you a 8x10 piece of unglazed tile for a cheap stone. This little appliance will save me money and time, so 'two thumbs up' from me.

I thoroughly searched online for a simple, small, non-toxic toaster oven. Many of the reviews on Amazon about toasters off-gassing and smelling chemical freaked me out. It seemed impossible to find one that didn't have a "non-stick coating" or some variation of teflon inside. I was also wary of reviews that said that the toaster seemed dangerously hot, and many seemed to catch fire! I'm not positive that this one is completely safe, but it seems fine so far and I like that it's made out of stainless steel. To be safe, before using it, I took it outside and let it heat up for a couple of hours to "off gas" on high heat. It DID smell toxic and chemical during this time, but finally the smell wore away. (I definitely recommend doing this). Now when we use it there is no bad smell. It seems to toast and bake fine and it's nicely compact.

My husband was not to excited when I told him I wanted a toaster oven. So I bought this one because the price was right. Now he can't stop commenting on how great it works. He hates the microwave so this has made his life and mine a lot easier.

If you realize that this is a toaster oven and you don't have unrealistic expectations for it, it's excellent. Some people complain that it gets very hot. Of course it gets hot...it's an oven. I have found that it heats up quickly and does a very good job of toasting and heating. I've made toast and reheated ribs and this oven handled both tasks perfectly and well under 10 minutes. It has cooked everything I've put in it so far in well under 10 minutes. I have not burned any food and I have not had problems with the outside being cooked to a crisp while the inside of the food is still cold. This oven cooks very well and cooks evenly. The price at Wal-Mart was very fair. I highly recommend this oven for those on a budget.

  • A. If it works as advertised, it will be. Mine doesn't heat up almost at all, so it is only as hot as the inside, which is not much. If it would work well it would definitely get very hot!

  • A. The oven does get hot on the outside. I have mine sitting on a small wooden table that it comes in contact with. It hasn't damaged the wood. It has legs approximately 1" high that should help prevent contact and overheating cabinet laminate if that is what you are asking. I attached a picture showing the legs.
