I checked and the 12 volt cigarette lighter/ power plug on my Honda is NOT active when the car is off.   You have to turn it to accessories and I was told that would use more power than the charge it was receiving from the maintainer.  In addition, they cautioned that on a new car with all the electronics charging using the 12 volt cigarette lighter/power plug could damage the car's electronics.   Check with your dealer before using this method.

Yes, this should work on an Absorbed Glass Mat, gel cell or any other 6v or 12v battery either wet or dry.

It didn't seem to work on my new AGM battery.  It charges it, but it never stops charging.  It was up around 14.55 volts after 48 hours and I decided that was enough.  Maybe it would have finished eventually but I am not risking overcharging my new AGM battery.  I bought a CTEK 4.3 and it tops it up in a couple hours.

Will this work on AGM or gel cell 12V batteries?

I really like this.  It's easy to use, and connects with ease.  Indicator lights show whether it's accepting a charge or not, so it's easy to know if you didn't connect it properly.  Two modes, 6V and 12V, make for limiting the current easy too.  It was worth the money.

Just good product here-- nothing else to say

There are battery maintainers that go for around $100 or more. So I was skeptical about this one only being $20, but gave it a shot anyway. First thing I notice is the plug accessories which are very cool. The device is simple to use and the most important thing is that it works. Hooked it up to my old jeep (battery was dead) it took about 2 weeks but charged the battery and keeps it charged. So I hooked one up to my boat battery and it was fully charged in 2 days. Will probably get a 3rd for my atv. These things are great and cheap.
