Putting together was a little hard for me, my husband usually puts things together for me! I was excited about the Febreeze filter. Having all indoor-3 dogs and 5 cats really can make for a smelly house. I am not sure why people are saying the smell is very strong, I thought it was perfect, not to strong at all! We were using an older Kirby bagged vacuum that just wasn't performing well enough to me. I never felt like the carpet was "clean" after vacuuming. I used the Kirby yesterday, and used this Bissell today and I couldn't believe how much hair and dirt was sucked up. The canister was over the full line when I was done. (please see picture!) I love how you can turn the brush off for bare floors. It did very well in our kitchen and entry room which is tile and laminate. What I wish this vacuum had is a cord rewind. It would make this the perfect vacuum! It could be a little quieter but the Kirby is as loud if not louder than this one. I vacuumed next to the closed bedroom door, in which my husband was sleeping and it didn't wake him up which is good! I am excited to try out the edge cleaner now, I think it will work exceptionally well just like the rest of it.

First of all, let me explain that I have 3 cats and a medium sized dog. Our house is no stranger to pet hair. I've had some really expensive ($1000+# vaccuums in my lifetime #Kirby/Rainbow#, and this vaccuum is BETTER! We vaccuumed the house with the Kirby in the morning... then, in the afternoon, we vaccuumed with this new Bissell. I think we found enough fur to make an extra cat! The hair that this thing picked up was extraordinary. In an 850 sq. ft. house, we had to empty the large dirt canister twice #after the expensive Kirby had already tackled each of the rooms that same day)! It really gets the pet hair! And it is so easy to use - with on board attachments. This vaccuum had everything I was looking for: bagless cyclonic, on board attachments, and does carpet and bare floors with minimal effort to switch over. Not to mention, the price is right. The fragrance is strong at first, but that is to be expected with any new air freshener. The fragrance calms down quickly. After a few weeks of using the new Bissell, it leaves the house smelling wonderfully fresh and clean. By the way, this vacuum has the longest cord I have ever seen. I can do the whole house without unplugging once. It's a keeper! I don't think I will ever buy one of those over-priced fancy vaccuums again. Thank you, Bissell!

This vacuum sucks up every little particle and every little hair, while spreading a fresh febreeze smell all over. We have carpet and wooden floors and this vacuum was easy to switch between surfaces. Pros: - Good suction -i was surprised by how much it pulled up - Seems to filter air well - no sneezing - Easy to empty and bagless Cons: - Slightly hard to put together - Vacuum is strong and can suck up the cord as you vacuum. - Rather loud Overall I was happy with the product and would totally recommend this to anyone!

Pros -The Febreeze smell is nice, it's not too much -The TurboEraser is the greatest invention ever! It is like a mini-vacuum attachment. It grabs all the little pet hairs off my couch effortlessly. -The edge suction is helpful. Cons -The cord isn't retractable -The assembly instructions were very vague, but you eventually figure it out -The edge suction is only on one side Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The TurboEraser is the only thing that actually picks up all the cat hair on our suede couches. Lint rollers and other tools don’t even come close!

I wanted a good vacuum for pet hair, but did not want to spend hundreds on a Dyson. I read the other reviews & all the pro's were it worked rather well. As far as putting it together, it took me 15 minutes I usually make my husband put things together. Pretty simple & a little common sense is needed. The Febreze filter smells awesome!! Who doesn't want a clean smelling home??? It has great suction power, just what I was looking for. In my opinion it's as loud as any other vacuum. Also, you can't beat the price!! I would definitely recommend this product :)

This vacuum is for a specific person, the person who is a uber Fabreez fan. When I first put it together I was like “OH MY” because the smell was so strong of perfume. It actually grew on me over the next few days as it wore off because it was less intense and made me feel like my carpets were that much cleaner. The cleaning power is no joke with this vac, its super powerful. I am giving it a middle of the road 3 for the following reason. Pros: Smell- Your whole house smells like it was fabreezed with 10 super sized bottles Easy to Clean the Dirt Collector- Super easy, just remove and dump, no bag, no issue, Power- it has a lot! It picks up everything and is a very effective overall cleaning tool 35 Foot Chord- good for getting around the house Pet tool- Works really well at picking up that sticky pet hair Works well on all floor types Cons: Smell- If you don’t like a strong fabreeze smell (perfume) don’t get this unit because it’s really strong. You can use a non smelling filter No headlight- would be helpful Louder than other vacs-not a total buzz kill but a little annoying Non retractable chord- I would of liked it for this price Not easy installation- It took me 45 min, the directions are not clear, the pictures were way too basic

Completely Love This Machine!!

I totally LOVE this vacuum and I've only had it for about 4 days! I've got 3 dogs and 3 cats and am also a hospital volunteer with my dog Lady. We go to visit patients who dearly love her as well as do the doctors and nurses. There is one particular doctor who completely loves Lady. He takes her into his inner office and puts her on the sofa and gives her treats! The hospital has other volunteer dogs besides Lady but she's got a huge fan base there! And all the dr. offices of my personal medical visits request me to take her with me when I go for my own personal appointments! My dogs let me vacuum them with some of the attachments and it cuts the hair down too. If she had loose shedding hair then the hospital would definately complain. This wonderful machine cuts it way down! My other dogs are a Jack Russell and a young German Shepherd plus 3 rescue kitties. They all leave me a huge amount of animal hair and dander and this vacuum doesn't leave one trace of it. Its fantastic! I am ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER!!

This is the third Bissell vacuum we've purchased in less than three years. We first purchased the PowerGroom Pet 4104 series and it stopped working within four months. Took it back and had it replaced with the same model. It lasted just over a year before it stopped working. We had to purchase a new brush for it during that time span also. So we decided to give Bissell one more chance and purchased the Total Floor Pet 61C5W model. It worked so-so for a week. We purchased it on 8/26/2013 mind you. Every time you pulled the sweeper back, it would leave pet hair where you stopped and then went forward again. It's as if the pet hair lifter fabric in front of the roller brush was in put backwards or causing the problem. No matter how much you sweep, there is always pet hair residue left behind. We went to take it back to the retailer, but they refused to take it because it was purchased over six months ago. Now the roller brush is broken. Bissell I am disappointed in the quality and craftsmanship of your product.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry for your difficulty. First of all we're happy to send a new brush to you. Just click at this link: http://www.bissell.com/email-us/ Please just remember to clean any hair/debris from the brush roller to prevent damage. What you described is just a clog in your machine. We have some great tips to get your machine to suction at this link: http://www.bissell.com/FAQDetail.aspx?id=1498

I just purchased my new vacuum yesterday, and ran through the whole house. I was so very impressed with its power and its ability to grab up pet hair. (I have three dogs, and two cats - and hair has always been a nightmare!) I thought my old vacuum did an "okay" job - but after just one use of my new Total Floors - Pet machine - I know I was very wrong! This vacuum is lightweight, and easy to manuever. It rolls easily accross the floor, and the adjustable handle reduces back ache from hunching over. It moves from carpet to regular floor with ease, and it is relatively quiet - which is great toward reducing the stress from the pets. The attachments are wonderful, and I love the mini-beater bar! The instructions for assembly were a little confusing, and some of the example pictures were a little dark, but I was able to figure it all out without too much trouble. I am very pleased with this vacuum, and with my purchase - and definitely recommend this as a necessary tool for any pet owner who likes clean floors!

Comment from Joe - 6/19/2012

I LOVE this vacuum! There's nothing not to like about it! It's unbelievable how much was in the canister the first time I vacuumed! Love the stair attachment and longer cord as well! I've read previous reviews about the difficult assembling of it?? I put it together with ease so don't let that scare you. If you don't understand the instructions, go online and look at them in a larger format.

  • A. There is a pull out filter under the dirt container - you need to pull it towards you almost after every use to get dog hair off of it - plus you have to reach in and grab hair from above where the filter tray is to get remaining hair that will be there. Plus there is a filter inside the canister above the dirt container - this also needs to be be cleaned as well as you can by hand nearly every time you use (you have to slide you hand between the cannister cover and the round filter - the hair and dirt build up on it very quickly - then you have to get someone to pick up the machine and give it a good shake to get the rest of the dirt out. There is a shelf above the round filter that fills with diry and hair. Frankly - I spend almost as much time cleaning the vac as using it. Great suction is all I can say good about this over priced vac - it was a gift or I would have taken it back day one.

  • A. Yes, you do empty the bag less canister. But as for the filters, yes you can wash them & the febreze filter may need to be purchased once completely used to remain with the freshness. There is a "suction power indicator" that turns the color red when filters are clogged or need to be cleaned. When the indicator turns from green to red it is time to clean/wash the filters.

  • A. Yes, there is a filter that you can wash with water and detergent is it becomes dirty. There is also a Febreeze filter on the side that releases the scent. It doesn't become dirty so you only need to replace is once the scent wears off.

  • A. There is a filter directly below the dirt collector...pull it out and you will see a big block of foam that collects all the little particles. According to the book, you can rinse this, dry thoroughly and put back in. I just took it outside and hit it a few times to get the loose particles off.
