    Disappointing assembly

I purchased two end tables, a television stand, and this coffee table in the same design - and the coffee table was by far the worst to assemble due to pre-drilled holes in the metal being too big on two separate pieces, and crooked drilling of the pre-drilled holes on the bottom part of the table. If I did not have three bigger screws on my workbench, I would have had to return the entire table. I managed, but I feel when you buy something it needs to have bette quality control to avoid this one from being delivered to a consumer.

The "pine finish" is actually the cheapest of veneer. While trying to remove a packing label from the underside, the "pine finish" ripped off. I bought this because it has wheels. What I didn't know is that the wheels are fixed at opposite angles and therefore do not function as wheels. I returned it.

This was surprisingly difficult to assemble. It is not user-friendly in the way that other flat-pack furniture (such as IKEA) is. It was good value for money and looked trendy in the Warm Industrial way that I wanted, but man: you would think that they could put the kit together in a way that is somehow less counterintuitive. Many of the screws do not screw in all the way, and if this is the way that they are designed, they should tell you in the instructions before you spend valuable time trying to screw them in in vain. Save time, and spend only a bit more money - if that - and buy from IKEA.

    • A. No, probably not unless you were to replace the wheel housing by welding on a new wheel assembly.

    • A. The casters it brings are welded to the frame. The wheels spin, but what the wheel is anchored in doesn't. Unfortunately it's not as easy as pulling out the fixed one and popping in a rotating one.

    • A. no. the stationary caster mounts are part of the leg. you would need to saw off and remount a new caster housing to do that. would not recommend.

    • A. Possibly, but not easily. If you look at the picture closely, you'll see that the leg is actually one piece. The wheels themselves just insert into the leg. Would guess you would have to cut off that portion of the leg in order to insert stock casters, but not sure that would work as I assume the leg itself is hollow.

    • A. Am guessing the table would stand, but the leg itself is one piece down to the point where the wheels are inserted so would poke into a carpet or floor and look funny. FYI, It's not a standard caster, the wheels go into the frame. If your concern is that the table will roll, this is not an issue as the wheels are fixed. They can individually "roll" if you don't tighten the bolt completely, but if you look closely at the table you will see that they are all pointed in different directions so the table will not move. This is not changeable.

    • A. It may be able to stand without the wheels but I wouldn't recommend it. The frame is solid but the "pine finish" is of the cheapest quality. I would guess it will blister if wet and scratch very easily.

    • A. The casters are not removable. They are permanently attached to the table. The wheels are removable, but then you would have the empty casters.

    • A. They are not casters. They are fixed in position and do not roll or turn. They are merely decorative wheels that are made of black plastic. The look the part, though. It cannot stand without them. The bases of the legs are unfinished and would terribly scratch your floors.
