I have one, and I wash mine every so often (about once a month.) I've had mine for over half a year now & it has never smelled.

The tag on mine says:

"Machine wash separately with mild detergent and cold water. Do not bleach, tumble dry on low. Stretch and reshape upon removal from dryer."

I have washed mine once a month and air dry them. No problem with a smell from them.

Yes, although I haven't had to wash them yet. The tag does says they are washable on gentle cycle. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law have had their mats for a couple of years, so I'm sure they're washable. My mother-in-law is constantly washing everything.

i did not find this to be true but have only had it a few weeks. the material puckered a little when i washed & dried it but still feels great to step on.

I throw them in the washer and drier all the time and all the water comes out. No smell.

I commented on another question about this-I've had mine for 6 months or so, and I wash mine every month. I've never had a problem with it smelling or anything. It does retain water when you do step out of the shower-(that is the purpose) but it gets evaporated into the air eventually. And you are right, just like a sponge-(but again, mine has never smelled.) so it does need to be washed at least once a month depending on usage. It gets used just about every day.

I do have a memory foam mattress topper and have never had a problem with it. As for the bath mat I use it daily as do the boys in their bathroom. I have never had a problem with them smelling either.
I wash them and then air dry them and they come out looking brand new.

As long as I hang it over the tub edge after using it, it seems to be dry within 24 hours & its staying nice & soft, I admit I was pleasantly surprised also at its performance. :)

This bath mat was perfect.  It is so soft and feels great when I get out of the shower and I don't have water on the floor.  It dries almost instantly.  It was an excellent choice for me.  I also don't have to worry about slipping since my floor has tiles and can be very slippery.  
I've never been much for writing reviews but since I read all the reviews and feel it has saved me from purchasing items that were not quality I wanted,  I decided to try and help others by writing my review.

Perfect Bath Mat

These are great, feel great, and look great. They seem to soak up water well and dry quicky too. Not only do they look good in the bathroom (we have 3 in there) but my husband loves them) In fact he wants to get them for our guest bathroom as well - only problem there, was they did not have the color choice I wanted - or I would have.

I LOVE this type of mat. I have several different brands and different sizes. This one is not my favorite, but it was the size and color I needed. These mats are wonderfully absorbent and they wash beautifully. Drying is another matter. My favorite brand is sold through Sam's club, though I forget the name, and I was hoping Walmart would carry it also, but they don't. I prefer it because of its construction. The cloth is attached to the foam and the foam touches the floor. On this one, and most others, the foam in incased between the cover fabric and the bottom no skid fabric. The foam ones don't shead in the dryer, but, after several washings, I've found that most with the no skid bottoms dry and flake off the no skid materials after a time. The foam mats have not had that problem which is why I like them better. They also stick in place better than the no skid backing, too. If you put them in your drier, I suggest putting your heat setting on delicate. It takes longer to dry, by won't dry out the no skid backing, at least it hasn't so far. I learned the hard way!

Nice, but about average

I had been looking for something that wouldn't slide with me and that would dry quickly for a bath mat... I can stop looking! I am truly pleased with this purchase. It doesn't slide, it dries quickly and it's super soft to stand on while you dry off... It was by far a perfect buy. :-)

Love this memory foam mat!

I never expected this mat to be so comfortable. This was my first memory foam item and I'm very pleased. The blue was a bit lighter than the picture but it still works. The larger size is perfect. A definite good buy!

Wow! What a bathmat!

I love the Better Homes and Garden products line at WalMart. The quality is terrific for the price and the colors are vibrant and spot-on when they arrive. I have found they wear well too as I have had my guest bathroom and bedroom decked out in BH&G for 2 years. The chocolate brown color of these mats is beautiful and rich. Stepping out of the shower onto this fabric makes your feet happy. Compared to higher priced department stores, these mats were a real bargain and who doesn't love that.
