My husband helped me put this together. It was not difficult, but it is good to have someone help you hold the parts together while you use a screwdriver.

Yes. Instructions and parts labeling and packaging make assembly easy. Just be careful lifting shalf after assembly.

It is too heavy for many people to lift while in the box. After it is put together, I suggest sliders (I used the sticky side type, not the nail on) to move it around. Better have help to stand it up if you are weak.

yes ma'am. The most difficult part is the box is heavy...once you get it unloaded in your home (Walmart will help you load it in your vehicle)...slide each piece out of the box onto your living room carpet taking care not to chip the edges. Once you get the pieces spreading out you shouldn't have any difficulty putting it together.

Be careful and roll it on its side and then finally stand it up and walk it to the wall where you want it. Be sure and locate two studs in the wall behind the bookcase near the top and screw two screws in the wall near the top to keep it from falling over. You should find this in the instructions.

I put it together pretty much by myself, and I'm pretty much in the same situation as you. I had to prop the side panels up against a wall on one side and a piece of furniture on the other side to put the case together. Things lined up nicely though, and that made it all the easier. Do yourself a favor and get a small electric drill to use- there are a lot of screws! I did have a little help from my 9-yr-old.

The box will probably be your biggest problem. It weighs around 85 pounds. You could have WalMart help you get it to the car and open the box while it's still in the car and take the pieces in to the house that way. Otherwise the instructions are clear and easy to follow. You'll need a hammer, a #2 phillips screwdriver and a straight blade screwdriver. Nothing else! As you tighten screws listen for the creeking sound as the screw finally seats down tight. You can over tighten the screws and strip them out.

I put this together by myself while my husband played video games. It took about 45 mins...Instructions are easy to read & follow. I wished I had help but he was "busy"

It will be easier with 2 people. But one can manage.

It took the maintenance person at my mom's assisted living about 2 hours to assemble. I think there are a lot of pieces. Be aware that the box is very heavy and you will probably need someone's help to move and assemble it. It is certainly worth the money and effort.

I&#39;ve made several DIY furniture pieces in the past. The complete box is heavy and you will probably need help to move to the room you want it in. Once you open the box and are dealing with individual pieces it&#39;s fairly easy. Just remember to go slow, work on a clean surface, DON&#39;T scrape the nice finish across the floor, and read the directions at least three steps ahead as it can help you better understand what you need to be doing at any particular time.

I am a woman and I live alone. How difficult is this to put together? Can one person do this alone?

It is made of pfd, composite wood. Not sure if you would consider that high quality. But the finish is satin black. To me it looks like old wood in lavish libraries. The backing isn't the best. But after putting books and other items the backing looked just fine. I would buy this again. The shelves have dust on them so don't freak out when you open the box and see lines on the shelves. They brush away. Scared me half to death. Something else is that the shelf adjustment post come with plastic covers so the shelves are not on bare silver posts. That is a nice touch that usually isn't present. If you wet the post before sliding the cap on, it will be lots easier. Finally it does come with a hinge you can use to secure it to the wall.

It is not of solid wood, but of thick, solid "particle board" material. I didn't like the backing because it was cardboard and you can see the creases, so I painted my own thin plywood backing a shiny black and it seems to make my pictures and knick-knacks look good. Overall it is very sturdy and the price is of good value. I'm surprised they (I ordered two) didn't cost more!

it is def some type of wood. It looks very nice once set up. The back is not wood more like a hard cardboard that you nail on the back. everything else is wood.

It's basically a high-quality particle board with a gloss finish. The shelves are thicker than most I've seen that come with bookcases and feel very sturdy.

I'm not sure exactly, but the wood looks great and it's heavy. My brother asked where I bought it and when I told him Wal-Mart he said it was too sturdy to come from Wal-Mart.

I don't know what they call it, but it's similar to a particle board type material, but it is very dense and solid. Sounds like real wood when you knock on it.
Only cheap looking piece is the backing material. But all the front trim pieces look very nice!

It's all MDF with wood veneer. It's actually one of the nicer MDF furniture pieces I've ever seen.

It is made of a mixture of things. The trim on the front appears to be all real wood through and through. The shelves and sides are MDF with a thin wood veneer. The backs are very thin, almost like thick paper, with matching veneer.
