Nothing out there that compares for this price. I shopped around for about 5 months (prior to a move) for a dining room set that would fit in a small space. I came across this one and one on Kmart's website that was similar. The one on the other site was the exact same table but in a wood color and it was a little less expensive but it only came in one color which was wood. I have wood floors so I didn't want too much with wood on top of wood - I just thought it would be tacky so I wanted something either white or black. I was hesitant with white because of having 3 kids but I found a website where this woman makes fitted tablecloths. They are usually for patio tables but I went ahead and ordered a white one (since clear does not have the felt inside to protect the paint) I ordered it in small which matched closest with this tables measurements and it fit perfect. I have got to say I am so happy I got that because the table cloth is already stained thanks to some finger paint. So I cannot say I know this table won't stain because I won't chance it but I will say if you are concerned with that - don't let that alone hold you back, just get the table cloth. Other then that, the top of table was hard to assemble because the screws they selected for that were really small, I have no idea why they didn't allow for the longer screws but if you put some weight into it as you screw it in ( I used a drill too which is not recommended but I did anyway) it will work but it is the most annoying part of the whole assembly. Other then that it took about 3 hours for 2 tired adults to assemble. Definitely lay something under it as you assemble it so you don't scratch it up. It it sturdy, very heavy, and feels like it will last quite some time. I love the white, it brightens the whole room up, it is a plain bright creamy white in my opinion. I shopped around locally and online and I could not find any pedestal table sets for anywhere near this price. I love it, I would not change it for the world. I would also like to mention the chairs have these plastic feet on them and with my pergo it works great, because the pergo says to use those on any furniture so it was ideal. 06/23/2011
Disappointed I am very disappointed in this product. The bolts provided to secure the table top to the base were too short and would not catch when screwed down. New longer bolts had to be purchased.When a guest sat in the chair for the first time they had a button on the back pocket of their blue jeans, the button took the finish right off the chairs and put scratches all over the top of the chair. 11/03/2010
Lovely table/chairs Love the table and it seems pretty sturdy. Was a little time consuming putting together though. Not sure on how it will handle spills with wine or other stain causing foods. But all in all love it. 11/23/2010
Chair Back Split - takes 6 months to replace :( The set itself is nice. Sturdy, pretty, and a good size for a small family. The only problem I have (which is a biggie) is that one of the chair backs came split. The table set comes with a phone number of the company to contact in case pieces are broken or missing... the company receives this product overseas and will not receive the piece I need for another 5 months. From there I've been told it can take up to an additional month for the item to be sent to me. For now, only 3 people can sit at the table and I have to store all items for the fourth chair until we can complete the set up come December (?). The company stated that I can take the entire order back to Walmart if I wish, however we had already put together the rest of the table set (which can take several hours if you're new to putting together furniture) and this option seemed like more of a hassle. I strongly recommend that if you purchase this item, to look over each piece before putting it together, possibly to avoid my situation. 07/08/2011
