    No Brainer Fire pit

At 48 dollars, this is a no brainer. I think we paid about the same 3 years ago now. It came with a vinyl cover and a poker that you use to remove the metal mesh cover to put more wood on the fire while burning. Assembly was simple, no problems there. The vinyl draw string cover is somewhat awkward to put on so I just don't use it for that, I actually use it to cover a small pile of wood near the pit to keep the wood dry and ready to burn. The vinyl cover would be more useful in northern climates, I recently moved from Michigan to Alabama and I can see where I would use it as intended up there to preserve the structural integrity of the unit during the winter months. The three inch rim around the bowl should not be used for moving the pit while burning, it is slightly thin strictly decorative and is not intended to be used that way, it also gets hot. After three years the only thing I take issue with concerning this product is the metal mesh cover that "melted" after our first big fire and has holes in it and is warped now due to excessive heat. We don't typically build huge roaring fires but did this first time not knowing how the fire would burn in the new pit, in other words, we over did it. This was only significant in the fact that replacing the mesh because it is a round cover would be difficult and requires something thin and flimsy to facilitate bending the material around to fit. There probably is solution to this small problem but I just use it as it is. The sparks are going to go right through the mesh cover anyway even it you fix the mesh so forget it and move on, it is not affecting the function. It does not bother me. The idea is to relax around the fire not get all worked up over the holes in the cover. In my picture with no fire in the pit you can't even see the holes, because of resolution limits on uploaded pictures. They are about two inches in diameter and I even had a hard time finding them when taking that picture. All in all, after three years of use the bowl is in great shape the legs are in great shape and the whole unit is still sturdy due to the naturally sturdy shape and design of the pit even after sitting out uncovered the entire three years. I am very happy with this product, especially considering the 48 dollar price. "It is what it is", and I would buy it again. Its a No Brainer.

Very easy to assemble (less than 5 minutes). It's sturdy and it looks nice on our patio. We had a fire this afternoon and it works great!

We were going to build a stone firepit, but saw this one and the price adn decided to get it. I like that I can move it around the patio. It's really beautiful, and we've had many compliments on it. We've had two fires in it, so I haven't had it long. if a problem arises, I will update here. However, if it lasts us a year, for $48, we got our monies worth out of it!

I love this fire pit, I was a little disapointed when it arrived dented and chipped. It serves its purpose and brings the family together at night by the fire outside. I think that the lid hand lifter should be a little but longer too for safety. Plus it rusted over night when it rained, so if you do not want it to rust keep it dry.

I really like this product. The price was great and its small enough to fit in my small courtyard without taking up the whole area. Its also a good looking item and not cheap looking. I am very happy with it.

    • A. We burn the fire starter logs and then add real wood. Its best if you can get the short fire starter logs instead of the big ones...(only to save $)...the fire starter logs get the fire started and then you can add wood logs thereafter...

    • A. We used it on grass with no problem. If your grass tends to be dry you may want to have a hose or water bucket close (doesn't hurt to be safe). The small pieces that did escape the lid seemed to cool in the air. Be careful on windy evenings

    • A. I started by burning over grass, but I made a small window screen circle to cover the holes in the bottom to keep the ashes in. I have since built a block fire pit, filled it part way with stones and it works great to hold the fire bowl and screen cover.

    • A. You never use a fire pit on grass or a deck. I suggest making a large dirt pit or a concrete slab. You will want a few extra inches around the pit to keep it from the grass. When it's dry grass lights up fast. http://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/articles/firepit_care/ Here is a good website when first buying a fire pit.

    • A. We have ours on a patio. I would not suggest grass only because the lid has to be set down to add more wood once its burning and, the lid is hot, and would scorch the grass. Other wise I don't see heat on the bottom of the unit being an issue as long as you don't build huge roaring fires. Personally I would not want to chance it. Our fire pit is sitting almost touching the grass as our patio is very small and there has not been an incident of scorched grass in three years.
