These are expanded polystyrene, as in STYROFOAM (as in cheap ice chests)! They are about 1/4 inch diameter semi-spherical tufts of styrofoam.

Wow! This question was asked over 4 years ago and the site won't let me back to the other questions. So, just in case someone else needs to know, these are 100% polystyrene (No CFCs). They are just about the size of a pea.

No. Every bean bag I have ever seen has a zipper, sometimes hidden in the fold of the material. Never a lock.

I used a screwdriver with a narrow flat head to open zipper one, zipper two has a tab on it.

These are not the typical type/size beads you would want to use in a pillow. They are a little larger than pea-size and probably wouldn't be ideal in a pillow. They are not micro-beads.

I guess it could be, but it's fairly large beads and I'm not sure it would be good for sleeping. Great for floor pillows, etc, tho!

I use the filling for my dog's bed, he likes to sleep on it. I think an adult would "smash" the beads and the filling would not last long. Similar to a styrofoam peanut if you step on it.

the beans are very small and could be used for a pillow, they would be about the feeling of those neck pillows you buy for airplanes.

YES! It will not only be comfortable, but warm too! It will settle/ smash over time and load, so leave your options open to add more fill. After all, these are expanded polystyrene pellets. Sooner or later, your going to "smoosh" them flat.

You could put it in a pillow, but I wouldn't sleep on it, since the beads make a rustling noise when moved.

Yes, but definitely zip (or sew shut) to avoid spillage of the beans. I'm guessing you already knew that, though. Just as a tip, though, leave extra room inside the pillow so there is room for the beans to move around. If you pack it too tightly, it won't be very comfortable.
