I bought my first bunn coffee pot over 20 years ago. It is still going strong. I retired it to the motor home and bought the new one for the house. Well worth the money. What my mother has paid for coffee makers in the last 10 years would have purchased a bunn. Don't be afraid to try one. They are well worth the money.

The coffee maker makes amazing coffee, the problem is that if you only drink coffee occasionally, this is not the product for you. The reservoir is designed to be always full of water and the heater always on. The fresh water you pour in displaces the hot water already inside the machine and as a result the coffee is immediately dispensed nice and hot. If you don't use it frequently like I do, you end up drinking stale water and wasting electricity to keep this stale water hot 24/7. I returned it and still looking for a machine that can make coffee as good as Bunn. If you brew several cups, several times a day, you can't go wrong with Bunn.

The most inportant thing I can think of is the temperature of the coffee during the brewing process . Very important to make good coffee. This is the only one that brews at 200 degress that I've seen. Others are at somewhere betweeen 160 and 180. As for duability, that's yet to be seen. But so far, so good. Bunn has a good reputation. My new Hamilton Beach lasted 2 weeks and made luke- warm coffee. So, I picked this higher quality product and I think it will be money well-spent.

Since I started to like fresh made coffee( I used to drink instant coffee in China, after I started to drink fresh ones, I would never go back to instant coffee anymore), I’ve had two coffee makers before this months for last several years. My first coffee maker was Mr Coffee brand, it cost me about 60 bucks. It was a big piece of junk, after one month, it started to make warm coffee. It never made tasty coffee anyway. No more Mr coffee coffee maker for me then. Then my hubby’s friend bought a Braun coffee maker for us as a gift. He loved this coffee maker. I have to say, it was not bad, but it did maker bitter coffee sometimes. It lasted several years, and it still worked after I dropped it on the floor once. Even Braun still worked, but I was so tired of the bitter taste coffee, I did need a good coffee maker that could make a good cup of no bitter coffee and last a long time. After I heard how good the Bunn coffee makers were for a long time, I decided to give it a try. Bunn makes coffee makers for commercial and home uses. For my first Bunn, I chose the home grade one. I bought the BX-B model on walmart.com, for $94 plus tax, and Free Shipping. Walmart has the best price, and the shipping was fast, just two days. I was so excited to receive it, and couldn’t wait to use it. I did have some problems to use it at the first time. The biggest issue was my softened water in my house. I tried to make a full pot(50oz) coffee, the coffee and coffee grounds overflew from the funnel, and made a big mess. What was going on here? Oh, I recalled that on the manual, it said softened water may cause overflow. That was right, I switched my water to filtered bottled water, no more overflow! I did order the flow restrictor free of charge from their website. It is especially for softened water and fine grounds. I didn’t get it yet. So I have to see how it works later. But so far,it makes a full pot of coffee in just 3 or less than 3 minutes.Yes, as it promised, It makes the coffee no more bitter and burnt taste! My coffee tastes so good now. This coffee maker is more suitable for people drink coffee a lot, at least once a day. Cause the stainless water tank heats water inside to 200F, and retain that temperature all the time. That’s the reason why as soon as you pour cold water in, the hot coffee comes out right away, and a full pot just needs less than 3 minutes. If you just drink coffee every once a while, this coffee maker is not for you. This model I got has a vacation switch, so I could turn it off when I am a way for a while. Cause the water in the water tank does get evaporated to dry if you don’t use it for a long while. Now I am so happy with my new purchase. It is a little bit more expensive than other coffee makers, but for the flavor of the coffee, and it lasts a long times as other users said, it is worth the money.

This machine makes a great cup of coffee, and we are very pleased with it. It takes a little getting used to, though, because it requires about 20 cups of water which remain in the tank at all times, and the tank has to be heated before adding the cups of water to be brewed. Once the tank is hot (takes about 10 minutes from cold), then the brewing is very quick, so it really doesn't take much more time than a more typical brewer. The design is such that the tank should stay on at all times, but for morning-only coffee drinkers, that seems a waste of electricity. So, we turn it off and then restart it each morning. Some minor ideas for the "suggestion box": we wish it had an indicator light to show when ready to brew, rather than just knowing by the clock or hearing that the gurgling and bubbling has stopped. We also wish we could turn on the warmer without turning on the tank heater (the tank will heat without the warmer on but not the other way around). We would also like some kind of a see-through indicator of the level of water in the tank. We also wish it were easier to drain the tank for cleaning, rather than turning it over in the sink, shaking it, and waiting for it to stop dripping. With all that said, it was easy enough to make it part of our morning routine to turn on the tank and then do other things for a few minutes, and then come back to make the coffee. If you don't mind it being on at all times, or if you can make that little adjustment to your routine, you'll enjoy this machine.

    • A. Bunn has their own filters and recommend their own filters. They are very reasonably priced. I tried other brands of filters that looked similer but they do not perform as well as a Bunn filter.

    • A. Use the ones made by Bunn. They are tall enough to keep the grounds from spilling over the sides of the filter. Walmart sells the Bunn filters.
