These are really tasty, but they are very high in fat (16g) and calories (240 per 1/2c). That might be ok in an emergency situation when you need the energy, but as an every day snack, it could be excessive. I usually read the labels before buying, but I didn't this time (my fault). They ARE tasty though, and if they weren't so high in fat and calories, I would absolutely recommend them! Hoping I can find a healthier option as I like bananas.

I love eating these banana slices instead of crackers or chips. Your kids will love them. Caution, you need strong teeth.

    • I just bought mine last month. It is best used by August 19, 2024. This is stated on the bottom of the can. On the Augason Farms website it states the shelf life to be 10 years. Hope this helps.

    • According to the package - Sealed 10 years; opened 1 year.

    • Shelf life is minimum 20 years (unopened). Depends on your storage opportunities.

    • Unopened - 10 years. Opened - 1 year. If you open them and do not use the entire can, you can vacuum seal what you do not use and they should regain the 10 year shelf life.

    • I suspect you can house this can a long time. But after opening them I would recommend Ziploc bags or plastic containers.

    • Per the Augason Farms website: "Shelf Life: Best when stored in a cool dry place at temperatures between 55° and 70° F (ideal humidity 15%). Sealed: to 10 years / Opened: to 1 year"

    • don't refrigerate-- they get sticky. just put on the provided snap-on plastic cover between uses.

    • refrigeration allows moisture-- and moisture makes them sticky---just keep the top on and put in a dry pantry area. they keep very well after opening-- but they are HARD-- so beware your teeth when biting and chewing them. if put into cooked [ing] oatmeal or muffins they will soften from the surrounding moisture and make them easier to eat. broken pieces are great for baking to add a hint of banana flavor. i'm sure more are sold for snacking NOW than for long term storage so you may find a better price per pound in the produce or snack section.

    • Just keep the lid closed. No Refrigeration needed.

    • Package label says - No refrigeration required but best kept in a dry place with temps between 55 to 70 degrees. We live in a dry climate so that helps. The banana slices seem to hold up real well in trail mix as they are honey coated. Other dehydrated fruit like apples and pineapple can pick up humidity from raisins and nuts in trail mix or cereal mixes.

    • I haven't opened them but based on other products I have, keep them sealed and put in an area like a cabinet. Should be fine for up to a year after opening. It also depends how you do store you're own items as well.

    • I'm not sure what you mean by stored - but no refrigeration is needed. Even though it says to discard that "oxygenation thingie" in it, I leave it in. A can doesn't last me long enough to go bad, lol. Once opened, it says it will last a year. I believe it would last until you finished it. Delicious.

    • All the info is on the container; too much to list. For 1/2 cup, 240 calories; 140 from fat. Check out the Augason Farms website as it has more info and a way to contact them with questions.

    • The sugar & carbs content should remain the same. All that is being removed from the food is the water. Because the bananas shrink the sugar is concentrated & needs no additional sweetening. The addition of anything like honey or sugar creates a sweeter candy-like fruit. BTW, the harder & drier the banana chips are the longer they are preserved. The softer chewer kind are better tasting but won't last as long as the brittle kind bc they still have some moisture left in therm. Hope this helps others.
