Not what I thought it would be I bought this large (6qt) ice cream maker in hopes that it would be able to feed the large extended family on Sunday get togethers. The machine didn't perform at all...the electric attachment wouldn't turn the paddle. It was like it just missed fitting correctly. We tried using the hand crank...that didn't work much better. The plastic housing for both the electric and hand crank wasn't able to do the job. We returned the maker and have ordered a different ice maker off Amazon. Service at Walmart was wonderful in taking it back as I had discarded the packaging it came in. 07/28/2009
I purchased this ice cream freezer in anticipation of the July 4th holiday. Homemade ice cream is perfect for outdoor barbecues. The freezer had a very sharp appearance. I was especially excited with the crank or electric option. We succeeded in completing one batch of hand-cranked ice cream which was delicious. At the conclusion of the first batch, the crank became hard to turn which usually means it is done. The next evening we tried to make another batch and the hand crank would not work at all. It just kept slipping and would not turn the dasher. The parts are plastic and not durable. The electric crank worked fine for the second batch, but it is also poorly made and will probably break down as well. We are returning the freezer! 07/21/2008
Looks great so far! This review is based on having removed the ice cream maker from the box and prepared it for use. The quality of this item appears to be excellent. The components are of heavy-weight, durable materials, and this particular product can make a large batch of ice cream. I appreciate the fact that both a hand crank and electric crank are part of the set, so we can make ice cream either way. A booklet of recipes and hints is included. We look forward to making our first batch of ice cream! 09/26/2009
