- No. Although it might be possible to heat outside of the package in the microwave since it is already cooked shrimp. The packaging is not microwave safe plastic. For best results pour frozen shrimp into a strainer/pasta bowl, run cold water over it for aprx 10 min. Then serve with cocktail sauce or pluck the tails off (about 15-20 mins, 10 once you get good at it) and throw it in a large skillet to heat (about 5 mins to heat). Add butter, season to taste with salt pepper and other seasonings (garlic, dill, marjoram, lemon juice, or lemon pepper) or just add your favorite sauce (Alfredo). If you make your own sauces you can throw the shrimp in the heated sauce and the shrimp will heat in about 5-6 mins on medium heat.by WallyWolf7/9/2014Was this answer helpful? - Unless it specifically states in the instructions that it is microwave safe to heat the shrimp in this container, I would not. Just to be cautionary. You never know what effects the container could have on the food while being heated in such conditions. If you became sick from eating the shrimp while it was heated improperly you would not be able to sue because it would be you at fault for improper heating. I hope this answered your question.by VioletV1/14/2014Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)Was this answer helpful?
- I have seen a few brands (perhaps just different packaging) carried by Walmart. I have also seen different farms even within those brands. China, Vietnam, Cambodia. The few packages I had out of Vietnam were awesome plump, clean, flash frozen crisp. Better than restaurant quality. The China farmed ones on the other hand, lately have been skinny poorly peeled and deveined, and have had a slimy texture. Just look for the origin country stamped on the back, and check for any little black spots in the shrimp through the clear window as a sign of poor deveining.by WallyWolf4/24/2015Was this answer helpful?
