Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii) 4.6 5 107 131
EXCELLENT I bought this game for my children 2 weeks ago. My children are 6 & 8. They absolutly love this game. I admit i love it just as much and i have never experienced any name calling or any inappropriate material. It's a load of fun for the whole family. My kids play it everyday, which is great b/c i get alot of fun family time that way. 12/13/2008
Love It!! My bf got me this for Christmas and I love it! Its in real time. They celebrate different holidays.....lots to unlock. Lots to do.....although it is a lot of reading. You can buy tools such as axes, shovels, fishing poles, Bug net. Sell items to make money or just hang around town and have parties with friends. If you like sim type games then this is for you. If your unsure then rent it first I did then 3 days later I got it for xmas. Lots to unlock and if you need help you can get hints and holiday info when you get gifts and such from gaming sites. I definitly recommend this game!!! Plus if you get the mic then add friends to your town or family and you can do stuff together and talk online its great! 01/03/2009
Like it with some reservations Like the My Sims, this sucks you in, and you want to continue playing. Being someone disabled physically, I look for a game that is easy to play and fun enough to keep my attention because I lay for long periods of time.Starting out is less fun than My Sims-but, like the Sims, you have tasks that need to be completed, in order to be rewarded. In My Sims the rewards come much more quickly, so, in that way, Animal Crossing is more tedious, and time consuming to find your rewards, which are given to you in the form of bells (money), which you use to pay for your mortgage, or clothes, or other things you want to purchase. You can shake the trees, and get oranges, or bells (coins), or furniture, or other things (encased in leaves). The rewards don't come quickly enough for my taste, and sometimes you get stung by bees shaking the trees, leaving you with a swollen eye. There are shells by the seashore to pick up also, to sell for bells.Later, when you purchase a shovel, or fishing pole, or net, you can use these tools for other ways to make money. With the shovel, you can dig up fossils, or bang on rocks that give you bells (coins)-or you can fish for fish-some of which take a while to get to bite, and catch butterflies and other various bugs with the net.All can be sold at one store, for bells (money)-and you can purchase more equipment there. There are other animals in the town, that sometimes ask you to help them out, and if you choose to help them, often they give you bells after you complete your task and go back and speak to them. There is a bus that takes you to the city, where you can get a makeover, and adopt your wii identity for the right price, and, go to the show, which gives you different emotions-go to a fortune teller, or other city ventures that have not been very productive for me yet, though I think I have more to figure out that I can do later in the game, as it seems to add on progressive tasks. If you have a computer hook up, you can go to other people's towns, and communicate with your friends, which would probably be an excellent thing for many, and if I had that feature, I may have given this and excellent scoring, although it still doesn't make the rewards come as quickly as I think they should. I mean sometimes you really have to shake a lot of trees to find a bell, or wait some time for a fish to bite, after throwing and rethrowing to get the right position where the fish faces your bait, and, you can't position and turn so you can see behind or on other sides of buildings, like you can in My Sims, which is a real disappointing thing, as you have to pick up things dropped behind buildings sometimes, but you can't see them. The other downfall, for someone who wants to keep playing, when they can't sleep at night, is that they close the store at 10:00 p.m. where you sell your wares, and the stores in the city close early-I believe at 9:00 p.m.-there is the designing store that closes at 11:00, and you don't find as much to pick up after hours, and the people are veeeerrrrrry grouchy at night, like it was meant to be for a child that has a bedtime-very aggravating. You have all the things you find in your pockets, and if they are full, you have to take them to the store to sell, therefore, after hours, you either drop them somewhere to find them later, and continue to wander about shaking trees-which at night seem pretty bare, or stop playing and start again in the morning. All in all I like it, and like I say, it does suck you in and you want to keep going and may be much more fun, if you have the computer hook up. 03/01/2009
Charming & Fun Although simple enough for a child to enjoy, I'll have to admit I had a lot of fun buying & furnishing my house, designing clothes, and fishing. 11/20/2008
