Our Shitzu was a mess, matted hair, burs, foxtails, you name it it was in his fur. Grandson first got off the initial tangle of fur and then went back and gave him a more refined haircut. He looks and probably feels better. Grandson said best clippers ever.

Quiet and powerful! I have a rescue German Shepard/Border Collie mix. Her coat is so thick and coarse, it takes 15 minutes just to get her coat wet to bathe. Of course, in the summer, hair just falls off as she walks, although I use a furminator on her frequently. I hesitated trying to clip her because she is petrified of storms, hates big truck sounds, motorcycles, and lawn mowers, having lived her first year of life on the streets. However, after reading the reviews about this one, I decided to try. Not only does it give a great cut on such long hair, it is quiet enough that she stood still for me, walked away a couple of times to take a break, but came right back for more. She actually enjoyed it, not to mention the improvement of fallen hair on my floors. Now her coat is short and much more comfortable for her in the sun. The different sizes of attachments enable you to choose the length. The ceramic blade is wonderful. I wish I had done this years ago.

I purchased this item because the less expensive Wahl clippers absolutely do a poor job shaving my dogs. Pretty disappointed with this product too. Looking at the reviews, I presumed I was making a good purchase. Upon shaving the first dog, a 15 year old shepherd/collie mixed breed, the clippers would not do very well removing the under hair next to the dog's skin. They pulled her hair and made shaving this dog quite a chore. My other dog, a 14 year old Burmese Mtn./ shepherd (first dog's offspring), went somewhat better. I still had to "fight" clippers to shave this dog. I grew up on a farm. Back in the "day" we had a set of clippers used to groom our dairy cows. They were a lot bigger in size, but they would cut through about anything easily...even matted hair that had dried cow manure mixed with cow hair. Does anybody make a dog clippers that actually work better? I really did not want to spend several hundred $ to groom my two elderly dogs.

I have 2 German Shepards - one with normal hair & one with extremely thick hair with a heavy undercoat. We shave our shepards in the hot months cause she gets a rash from a grass allergy every yr & we need to see to apply the medicine every day. In shaving him we found it cuts down on his shedding & constant work of cleaning up dog hair. She takes usually takes 45 to 1 hour, with these clippers she took 20 minutes. They made a smooth cut & did not snag, making the careful shaving (cause of rash) easy & my female actually enjoyed the experience. Our male usually takes 2 to 3 days to cut, but with these he took 45 minutes. These clippers took the hair off like spreading peanut butter. They did not get hot like the other clippers we had, which would mean we had to stop for an hr or 2, making the job last 2-3 days. It was over so fast & they were so quiet that our male had no anxiety & stayed still the whole time. They do not run when we lay out these clippers.

Purchased this pet groomer because since I have retired we cannot afford the $45 grooming cost for our Shih Tsu. Also, since I am at home thought this would be a good time to learn to groom him myself. He would fight me when I tried trimming him with scissors & I just knew I would wind up cutting him. Thought these were worth a try since most reviews were excellent. His fur had grown quite long & was becoming matted in places & as soon as we received our groomer it was definitely time for a trim. Low & behold this groomer was so quiet our little guy laid still for me & fell asleep. Trimmed his fur perfectly. We were amazed at the professional looking job I had done. Did not heat up at all so that made me feel very comfortable with it. Now I can keep him neat & trimmed whenever he needs it. Anyone hesitating this purchase have no fear. Love this groomer. So very happy I made this purchase. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And my husband thanks you too.

I have a large dog with a double coat...it's so thick I'm doubting that these clippers will do the job. People have recommended the Andis AGC Two-Speed Heavy Duty Dog Clipper but they are around $150, which I can't afford. Is there anyone else out there who has had success using these clippers on very thick, double coats? I hope so because my dog is miserable in this hot Florida weather.

  • A. Yes and you will be very happy with this product. I have 2 shitzu's one has fine hair and one very course hair. This works great on both. I can groom them both in less than 2 hours, these clippers amaze me!

  • A. These clippers will work but you will likely have to do a few sessions. You will need to do a medium cut and then go over it for a shorter cut. My advice would be to take her to a groomer, have them do an initial cut and then use these clipppers on a regular basis to keep her groomed short.

  • A. I'm not sure what a double coat is exactly or whether or not my dog has one. But I can tell you one thing that it takes me a long time to shave him with multiple strokes in each section to remove hair. I have used this new andis trimmer only once but I knew right away it was much faster and stronger than my old one and I think it has great power for the money. It also comes with a one year warranty. Just make sure you use a few drops of oil in the trimmer then wipe with a dry cloth before, during and after your shave to keep the blade working properly. I would highly recommend this product! I get a huge pile of hair when I'm done that is normally all over my floor and happily sweep it up knowing I won't have that problem! Good luck!

  • A. One of my dogs has a extremely thick double coat & it took a 2-3 day job about 2-4 hrs a day job down to 45 minutes. Like cutting soft butter, compared to other clippers I have used. They were quiet & did not snag. They actually worked better than the $120 pr that we borrowed from my sister.

  • A. I believe you'd find that these clippers will work for you. I found them to go through a thick pomeranian coat easily enough. My dog has a very thick, double coat and it took off most of the fur easily and one swipe. I got my dogs coat down to 1/8th inch since we also are in Florida and like to walk our dogs and she kept being too hot. My problem was when i was trying to get it all as short as i was and make it look really uniform. Took me a few passes, but it looks professionally done, and people are complimenting us on how pretty she looks.

  • A. Our dogs are shitzu/poodle mix, the one that has poodle hair is a little tougher to shear, but it worked well. Just make sure you brush out the curly and matted hair thoroughly and it should work great. You will have to choose the length of guard to use, per your preference. I went short as ours are black and were really hot in the summer heat. The kit comes with trimming scissors that work well. Scissors worked well on muzzle and tail. You'll learn how to use these clippers and where your individual proficiency is with their use.
