Anchor Hocking Company Premium Fishbowl Starter Kit, 1ct 3.9 5 6 7
Perfect Starter Fish Bowl I bought this kit for my son's first fish. We didn't want anything with a pump or filter...just something simple. This kit literally had everything we needed to start off with a goldfish. All we had to do was buy this and then buy the fish! It came with a small net, a packet of goldfish food (which we are still working on weeks later), a packet of chlorine neutralizer for tap water (with the amount we have to use for this 1 gallon bowl, this pack will last us for at least a 5 or 6 complete water changes), a plant, and painted rocks to go on the bottom. The plant was very tall (taller than the depth of the bowl), so we unsnapped the top segments of it). We liked the bowl because it is flat on the sides, and, unlike the round bowls, we could see the fish clearly, without everything looking "distorted." I wouldn't recommend this bowl for more than one fish, though. The rule is one inch of fish per gallon of water (and although some people are mistaken about this, this means the length of the fish NOT including the tail. Most small fish will be about one inch). All in all, the set was about $8, and the fish was 15 cents...not an expensive gift for my son at all! 03/22/2009
Good for Bettas *ONLY* I purchased a couple of these for betta fish and they seem to enjoy it. However, this is not at all fit for goldfish! There is not nearly enough space in this bowl. Goldfish thrive with at least 10 gallons per fish. They also need filtration because they are messy fish, and they need air bubbles in order not to suffocate! If you want goldfish you need a filtered tank. Get a power filter. If you want just a fish in a fish bowl get a betta and change the water once a week (make sure the water sits for 24 hours in the same room to reach room temp.). If you store a goldfish in this bowl or any bowl, it will have a very short life. The common image we all see of a goldfish in a goldfish bowl is very unrealistic. PLEASE DO NOT PUT A GOLDFISH IN A BOWL! 09/02/2009
Great For Your First Fish I work in the Pet's Dept at my Local Wal-Mart and This is what I always recommend to my customers. This nice 1 Gallon Bowl Includes:1 Packet of Water Conditioner (All Fish Need This use 1/8 of the Packet when setting up your bowl)1 Packet Of Gold Fish Flake (Feed only as much as the fishes eyeball per fish)PlantRock (Make sure to rinse with water before setup)This kit is what you need to keep a goldfish but remember 1 Inch of Fish to 1 Gallon of Water is the general rule and make sure to drain and refill 1.3 of the water weekly and you'll have happy swimming friends for time to come. 11/11/2008
Fish Bowl This bowl is way too small to keep a goldfish in.Even according to the old '1 inch of fish per gallon' rule, you could only keep a one inch fish in it - all goldfish are bigger than this unless very young. 11/11/2008
