American Plastic Toys My Very Own Desk & Easel 14 16
Too small - Dimensions very misleading The dimensions they give on the website for this item are very misleading. The site states that the desk stands 26.5" tall. However, this is only true if you are using the desk as an easel, with the lid flipped up. The actual height of the desk is 18.5 " at the back as stated on the box the desk comes in (about 14.75" at the front). I was looking for a desk for my 4 1/2 year old son to use for his preschool work, but he is too big for the desk. It would have been a perfect size for him if the dimensions given on the web site were accurate. I am thinking about taking this back as it is not going to work for our needs. Also, the top of the desk simply rests on top of the storage part of the desk (doesn't screw into place), so it comes off pretty easily. If you are looking for a desk for a 2 or maybe 3 year old, this might work, but I would not recommend it for a child any older than this. 11/30/2009
Poor Design I thought would be the perfect "starter desk" for my 20 month old daughter, but I was sorely disappointed. The top is not connected to the desk in any way. It makes sense to me now that I've put it together - how else could it be a flip-top AND and easel without being detached somehow. In any case, it took my daughter all of 5 minutes to realize that she could just take the top off....so she did. They she whined every time she tried to put it back on again because she couldn't get the pegs and grooves lined up right. So she and I played "take the top off and have mom put it back on" about a million times that first day. I also decided that I didn't like the fact that the stool is not attached (as in some other desks.) The stool found it's way all over the house being used as a step ladder to get up to places we're not supposed to be. I returned the item after less than a week. I'll spend the extra for the Step2 version I think. 12/03/2009
Would not recommend My 2 year old received this as a gift from his grandmother for Christmas last year. She really got ripped off! The desk does not latch together, nor does the easel option even work. My husband spent about two hours putting the thing together only to find out that the pieces did not match what the picture was telling you to do. It is also extremely small and flimsy. This desk didn't even last 4 months in our house; I would not recommend this product at all. 12/10/2009
