Rated 4 out of 5 by Kengarc No carpentry skills? NO PROBLEM! :-) (Read on) Quick review:Assembly was a snap (~2 hrs)Instructions were straight forward (all pictures); Even has a web address if u wanna see videosIts a very dark expresso color, which suits my tastes perfectly.Very sturdy (each shelf can hold up to 30lbs) with metal and wood parts.only con would be, some parts did have scratches on it.After reading some of the negative reviews, i would like to mention, the instructions clearly state what tools you will need. (hammer, and screw driver) Most of these type of furniture do NOT require a drill and usually advises against it. Someone wrote, the material was cheap and they were able to drill right through it. As sturdy as these shelves are, they cannot withstand a tool that can be used to physically alter the appearance of a wall, or any other part of a house or apartment. With that being said, i did use a tiny, LOW POWERED drill, that is really meant to replace manual screwing. This saved me a lot of time and i was sure to be VERY careful. If you have weak hands or arms, and/or will be doing this alone, i would recommend getting one of these drills at walmart or target. Manual screwing will take a bit longer and require you to take breaks (which is fine, whats wrong with a challenge? :-)) Again, i want to emphasize on how low powered this drill is, its a tiny drill that literally fits on the palm of your hand; not intimidating at all. You can purchase it for like 20-30 bucks. You can do a search for 3.6 volt drill (heavy duty drills are well over 20 volts), or palm drills and such. Hope this helps! cheers!! :-) 09/25/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mduncskitty Beautiful and easy to put together! I just got these shelves delivered to my home yesterday, 2 days after I ordered them online. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised! They are beautiful. Simple to put together (even for me). The pieces are marked with a letter and the instructions and so easy to follow. The only thing I needed help with was at the end when you attached the individual shelves. They are so attractive and the fact that you get 2 of them is even better. Walmart did a good one when they added these to their stock! 05/17/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by TheDesertRat What a bargain, and great looking! We got 2 sets (total of 4 bookcases), 3 to use in our small office. The floor is slightly slanted (it was previously part of the garage) and standard bookcases didn't look right because you could see that they tipped toward the opposite wall. The tapered design of these bookcases completely camouflages the fact that the floor slants. They are very nice looking bookcases, look much more expensive. The shelves are vinyl laminate over particle board, so be careful not to overtighten the screws during assembly. Instructions say it takes 2 people to put together, but I put all of them together by myself with no assistance. To do this yourself, after you've assembled the individual shelves and are ready to attach the frame to the shelves, stand all the shelves on END (not front or back) on the floor, spaced according to the frame, then lay the frame on top of all of them at once and attach screws. (Leave slightly loose.) Then tip the whole unit sideways onto the back of the shelves and you can attach the other frame while it's in that position. Finally, stand the unit upright to GENTLY tighten all the screws and you are done! 07/18/2012
