Alpo Is Now Making Some Really Good Canned Dog Foo

Hello. I got some of this to try on my picky dachshund Dixie. She really likes this as well as some of the gravy sensations and such being made by Alpo. In addition my cats think it is good too ... so if I run out of can cat can give temporarily tho not regularly since don't have all the vitamins and such the cats require. But most all dogs should like the new chop house, rotisserie and gravy sensations blends. Lots of meat in there.

My Sheltie really prefers cat food to dog food but this is one brand I can get him to eat....it is good as is or mixed with dry food.

does anyone know the difference between this and the other alpo 8-pack for the exact same price, other than the t-bone - filet mignon tradeoff? is the texture different on the filet mignon one. like loaf ground dog food compared to slices in gravy? cant figure out which one to buy, both alpo, same price.
    by theystolemynickname 4/20/2014
    • I prefer the chopped, gravy version rather than the ground dog food. We mix this with our dogs dry dog food to give it flavor and the chopped mixes better with the dry dog food than the ground dog food does. So we really only use Alpo to mix with our dogs dry food but they love it just the same.

    • You more than likely found the answer by now. The difference between the big cans and the small cans are the size of the 'slices' of meat. They all have the clear gravy, the large cans look like actual good cuts of meet, where the smaller cans have more square shrunk style meat. Ideally the smaller can appears to have been designed for small to medium dogs - average chunk size in the smaller can is half inch by 1 inch. The large cans are for large to x-large dogs where the large cans are 1 inch by 2 inches average sized meat slice. I also like the Alpo because the consistency is the same between batches, at the top of the can middle of the can and bottom of the can, no mystery floating 'stuff' or grain fillers bulking up the gravy to appear heartier. I have never had a dog refuse to eat this brand, where I cannot say that for others that are comparable in price on the market. I Hope this helps.
