This Air Hogs RC Rollercopter is designed for indoor use, but is durable enough to use outside as well.

You can use it outside, but a gust of wind will take it down.

It is not recommended, but my son has used his outdoors. So far it has not broken, and the cage really helps to keep the copter intact.

I am sure it would be usable outside but the model I received was defective. Never got to actually use it. Did not reorder.

I'm sorry, mine didn't stay on long enough for us to gauge the length of time before they ran out. Ours only worked intermittently from the time we unpacked it. They were fresh brand new batteries that we'd put in it, but there seemed to be something wrong with the circuit boards inside the controller. Being as there are more problematic reviews than good ones, I'd not be recommending this to anyone, sorry.

So far since we got this last month we have yet to replace the batteries. But I also think it depends on how much it is played with. Bonus part is the helicopter is rechargeable. no batteries in that part just in the remote.

Yes-- my boys fly them at the same time. However, it's easy for them to fly into one another. Make sure you have a large space in which to fly. One thing they like to do: they "race" to see who can roll across the length of the ceiling.

This is an awesome flying climbing helicopter toy! Not only great for the kids but for the adults too!
It kept my son and husband busy and happy for quiet some time!
This thing would fly in mid air and climb up the walls and roll over things it was very awesome!!
I wondered where toys were line this when we were kids!!
Says recommended indoor toy only but we took it out as well and it did awesome! It climbed up the walls of the house like nothing!
No assembly is the best! All you need to do is put the batteries in and be aware copter must charge on the remote prior to use- just so you kno if giving as a gift.
Works great does tricks and is entertaining just to watch even if not playing!
I recommend this toy for sure!!

Excellent flying climbing toy!

My son loved the appearance of this RC Rollercopter when it arrived. We quickly put the required batteries in and let the unit begin charging. This rollercopter was very easy for my son (11 years old) to use. He loved the way it could roll on the floor or fly in the air. We were a little skeptical about the claims that it could roll on walls and ceilings. However, the claims were very correct. My son was fascinated by this. The cage around the helicopter definitely makes it much more durable and less likely to have problems functioning like other rc helicopters might. The blue color of the cage was an added bonus as well. Great value and good product. A must have for any fan of RC toys.

Great rc for children

Let me just start off by saying my husband was more excited about getting this in than my 8 yr. old daughter! It was really fun to watch my daughter "drive" it better than he did!

Some things you need to know: It takes 6 AA batteries. If it dies on you chances are you just have to reset the copter and it's not the batteries. The underside of the copter lights up. The batteries go in the remote control and there's a little wire that you connect to the copter to charge it. So the copter is really light. Do not touch the copter while you are controlling it. The larger square openings are big enough for an adult, child, animal to get a finger or paw hit. It won't cut you or anything, but it does hurt (so my husband says).

We played with it inside and outside for about 30 minutes and it kept a charge. It does take a licking and keep on ticking. It hit a wooden porch, a wooden fence, a metal swing set, the ceiling, walls, etc. It flew very high in the air. It went as high up as power lines so be careful if your kids are playing with this outside it can easily fly on your roof or over your house. If it has a hard hit you may have to switch it on and off for it to work again. So far it seems very durable.

I would think any child old enough to control remote controls for a video console can use this item. The only concern with younger children would be your surroundings. Like if there's a road nearby. This can easily fly high and at least 50 feet. If you have a big yard this would be perfect for younger kids around 5 and up.

One thing I noticed from seeing the commercial for this is that it's really hard to control it to go up a wall or "walk on the ceiling". It more or less just flies around. That's not a bad thing, but don't expect to get it and it just crawl up things. Once you press the controller to go up, you have to keep that momentum going or it falls down immediately.

Overall, it's really fun. I enjoy just watching it. Adults and kids would both enjoy this. I left 4 stars because it is not as easy to operate it as it may seem.

Entertaining; Fun; A little hard to control

From an "un-techy" mom's point-of-view, this is a pretty cool gadget and my kids want to play with any time they can. That makes me happy. I absolutely love the cage around the helicopter. We have found it most useful for keeping away injuries after its many crashes. It is very durable. Like a said, there have been many crashes and the helicopter has survived them all. Indoors and outdoors, it has proven to be well manufactured. Now, from my "techy" husband's point-of-view, it needs a few tweaks. For the price, not bad. It uses infrared eyes to control the helicopter. That means that as soon as the sensor is about 10 feet away, it loses signal and crashes. If it had a radio signal, it would go a lot farther and let the user be able to control it better. When we use it indoors, it works wonderfully. When we are outdoors, it flies straight up/out, loses signal, and then crash lands on the ground (My kids love that!). They played with it for over an hour. And again, withstood the many crashes and was still usable the next day. So, overall, very entertaining and fun. Could use a few minor adjustments with the signal (according to the hubby).

Neat Little Gadget

My husband and my 9 year old son was excited to get this Rollercopter. Since it has a cage on it, we thought it would last longer than their last one. However, that was not true, but it was fun while it lasted. Perhaps if we lived in an empty house with no furniture whatsoever, it would have lasted longer. After two days, the top blade popped off. My husband put it back on but it kept coming back off while flying. Finally, they just flew it with one blade. It still flies with the one, but it does not have the same strength. In addition to the blade popping off, sometimes when it landed it would turn itself off. That may be a safety feature though. On the bright side, the Rollercopter is easy to charge using the usb charger that is built in to the controller. A full charge usually last an hour or more.

Good concept, poor execution (fun while it lasted)

received this roller copter a few days ago for my 9 year old son and he was thrilled to get it. After playing with for about an hour he wasn't to happy with he . Was hard to handle and keep it up in the air. But after after playing with it for a couple days here and there he loves it he handles the rollercopter just great. It just takes a little time getting use to. Now he won't put it down :) .

Now for my point of view of the product...
It's very light weight I mean very .Which isn't a bad thing it's a very cool looking toy. I will be buying a few of these for my nephews for Christmas. It does require 6 AA batteries for the controller. The good thing about this is that the rollercopter charges from the charging wire on the controller under the logo air hog lid I thought it was pretty neat. I had it plugged in for about 20 minutes and it had a very good/strong charge. (please note there is an on switch on the rollercopter it self it is very small took me about a minute to find but it does show where it's at on the instructions.( bottom line it's a very cool toy that any little boy would definitely love) .
