    • Depending on your experience, assembly of this wood play set should take approximately 10-14 hours after inventory of parts. Therefore, we recommend you set aside a full day for assembly.

    • Place in a flat area of your yard to minimize ground preparation.
    • Choose a level location for the equipment. This can reduce the likelihood of the cedar play set tipping over and loose-fill surfacing material washing away during heavy rains.
    • Place the equipment not less than 6 feet from any structure or obstruction such as a fence, garage, house, overhanging branches, laundry lines, or electrical wires.
    • Provide enough room so that the children can use the equipment safely. For example, for structures with multiple play activities, a slide should not exit in front of a swing.
    • It is a good idea to place your Playcenter in an area that is convenient for adults to watch children at play.
    • Do not build your playset on top of surfacing material.

    Rated 4.2 out of 5★by 321reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★by Not bad for the price Overall I would say I am happy with the set. As a word of caution I would say if you’re thinking you’re getting a really good deal on a set comparable to the ones that cost twice as much you are NOT. If you want a good set for the money then buy this set. The big difference between this set and the more expensive ones I looked at is the quality of the wood. It is not what you think of when you think of American Cedar. The wood is very light weight and scratches, breaks and dents easily. You have to be very careful when you use power drills to not over tighten because the screws will go straight through the wood. I am planning on putting a waterproof sealer on as another reviewer suggested. If you’re comparing the different ones from Wal-Mart go with this set. I think the only thing that made it feel sturdy was the fact it had so much wood. It took a day and a half to put together with a helper the first day. I had all the parts but was missing some of the hardware that was easily replaced with a trip to the hardware store. On the slide I did not read instructions very good. Make sure you look at the side rails to see how the middle piece goes in before you install the brace board on the bottom. I ruined mine and had to buy a replacement. The instructions get confusing towards the end and seem to leave out information. The part numbers also change from the instructions to what is marked on the parts towards the end but most of it is self explanatory. I was a little worried about the sturdiness of the swing but once you anchor it down it seems sturdy. One note on the glider is be prepared to drill holes through the metal brackets. It did not say to do this in the instructions but myself and three other people looked at it and that was the only solution we could come up with. They come with a hole in the bottom about an inch inside the tube from the edge. You have to attach the chain hook with a lock nut and there is no way to hold the nut still with a wrench inside the tube so I drilled all the way through to get the bolt on the hook exposed on the top. This also prevents you from using the bushings provided. Must just be a design flaw or we just couldn’t figure it out. There was one board called “N1 swing block” that I could figure out where it went once everything was done. If any future post figure this out please add it in your review. This set does look very nice once all together and the kids love it though so that is all that counts! 03/29/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★by Atlantis Play structure My husband and I had been debating over which play structure to purchase for our 5 year old and 3 year old triplets. We have been concerned lately buying cheap just to have items fall apart quickly. After searching all options we settled on the Atlantis play structure. My husband is fairly handy and was able to complete 90% of it on his own in about 8 hours. Make sure to take the 45 minutes it took to seperate parts and lay them out according to labeled numbers. All the wood pieces were labeled which made it very easy to organize and assemble. Honestly it was a bit overwhelming to get started with the large number of pieces and parts but once you get through the first few steps it went together easy. The only assembly issue was the instructions changed in the middle from listing the board number to listing the part number and there are numerous extra parts. Not a major issue, you just had to reference the first pages in the manual that had the parts listing. The structure looks nice and the kids are having a blast. This is a great structure at a good price. 03/16/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★by Great buy It took 8 hours for my husband and brother to put together. It seems like quality work and sturdy construction. It was a bit smaller than I had thought but it is a good size for children under 10 years. 03/08/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★by Love The Swing Set, Hated The Assembly Overall, the swing set itself is nice. I love it, my daughter completely loves it. We live in a rural area and therefore have to drive to public playgrounds and then deal with other big kids pushing and rough play. So out of fear of my daughter getting hurt, I decided it was time to purchase her a swing set of her own. She is 2 and has outgrown her little plastic "baby swingset and slide."First of all, I completely agree with some of the other complaints about the quality of the wood. The swing sets in other stores that cost twice as much do have better quality lumber. So keep that in mind while deciding on purchasing this one. There is one photo with the product description that is misleading. It pictures a little boy climbing the rock wall and upon comparison to the actual swing set, that photo is not even the Atlantis. The photo shows 4x4's for the main legs, the Atlantis actually has 2x4's holding up the entire clubhouse section. It is braced rather well however. I was just dissapointed that the photo was misleading. Also the wood does have a light coating on it and in order for the warranty to be honored, you do need to apply a clear coat annually. I waited about 4 weeks after assembly to coat it and unfortunately, the wood had already started to splinter and peel. I remedied that by applying a ceder tinted wood protecter and it made the wood one shade darker with a glossy fininsh. I love the way it looks. So apply a protective coat immediately!!The biggest problem was indeed the assembly. Most of the complaints in the other reviews are accurate. In fact, this is a project that requires professional contracting tools and most likely, a professional contractor! I am a single mom so I enlisted the help of my step-father, and his friend and wife on the first day. I was kicked out of my own project. There was a MAJOR case of "too many chiefs and not enough indians" and directions were misread and never double checked before pieces were assembled. That is obviously of no fault of the company but none-the-less, a total pain. So the second day, I enlisted the help of my brother and read the directions myself. We spent most of the first day taking things apart and putting them together correctly. So after that initial situation was remedied, we were about halfway through the project and that is when things started to become complicated. That part is the fault of the company. As mentioned in other reviews, the directions did change towards the end and become very complicated. At the top of every page in the assembly instruction booklet, there is a list of materials and hardware and tools that you need to complete each step. The lumber is marked with a letter and then a number. But towards the end of the booklet, the product number is listed instead of the actual markings on the lumber. That is when you need to get out the lumber checklist that comes in each box and decifer the code and look for the lumber stamp in order to ensure that you are using the correct piece of lumber. It just takes longer and became quite annoying.Another issue with assembly is that sometimes the instruction booklet would list a specific piece of hardware in the "items needed" section and then switch the measurements and hardware when it came to the actual assembly. My brother did have to call the friendly and helpful people on the 1-800 number listed on the front of the book to clarify that. I do have to say that the operators standing by, taking people's calls are very friendly and really do go out of their way to remedy any problems that you may have. We also had an issue when putting the slide on with one barrell nut not having the threads in it. They immediately expedited shipping with no cost to me to replace that barrell nut and gave us several extra pieces of hardware. So I was very happy and satisfied with the company's customer service. The final major problem was that the two green metal brackets that attatch the legs to the main swing beam would not line up correctly with the pre-drilled holes in the lumber. Again, my brother called customer service to find out if it was something that we were doing wrong, or if it was a mistake on their part. Ultimately, my brother ended up having to slightly bend the green brackets in order to get the holes to line up. That was a pain to do and of course, took up more time. Also, due to warped wood (again, the quality of the lumber wasn't the greatest) my brother did have to saw off some of the width of a board that went on the front of the imagination station part in order to get it to fit in. He tried tapping it in with a mallett and it just wouldn't go, so it had to be trimmed. It isn't really even noticeable, just again, time consuming and annoying!!The biggest complaint was about the amount of piecework that needed to be done. It was so time consuming!! Nothing was pre-assembled, right down to the boards on the bay windows. I mean, you open these two huge boxes and become completely overwhelmed by all of these teeny tiny little pieces. I was dissapointed that the company couldn't have made it a little easier on the consumer by having some of it pre-assembled. I have never bought a product where every single piece needs to be assembled yourself. Another complaint was that most of the lumber was pre-drilled....but my brother still had to do a lot of drilling, including buying two different sets of drill bits and making several phone calls in order to aquire the correct drill bit required to drill the holes for the green handles by the rock wall. Again, completely annoying and a waste of time!!Due to weather and circumstances (the first day being our own fault) it actually took seven days from start to finish to complete the assembly. So like I mentioned before, not only do you need professional contracting tools to build this thing, but you also should just have a professional contractor do it to save time and the headache!! Another word of advice, just keep the assembly to a two person minimum. Too many people causes too much confusion and that's when mistakes were made.Overall though, it really is a beautiful swing set and my daughter just adores it. I also have 14 nieces and nephews and so all the kids have enjoyed playing on it. I hung my daughter's baby swing in place of one of the regular swings, and I put a used plastic play kitchen in the "imagination station" area under the clubhouse and another learning toy with bead mazes and tic tac toe up in the clubhouse. I also purchased wooden block letters that that I have painted bright yellow to match, and so above the clubhouse doorway is my daughter's name. So we added to it and made it our own. I really do love this swing set however, I definately hated the assembly! Once you get past that though, your little one(s) should have a beautiful swing set for years to come.***NOTE*** to the guy who inquired about the **N1 swing block piece*** : The N1 swing block is the small thin board that goes on the bottom, left hand side of the main clubhouse part. It's purpose is to prevent a little one from running out of that side of the imagination station directly into the traffic of the swings...hence the name "swing block". I'm sure that it also adds extra support and durability to the main frame as well. You do have to drill those holes yourself in order to place the N1 piece there. But make sure you get that up and in place for your little one's safety. =) 08/08/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★by Love this Swingset! Very Cute! We bought this for my 2 and a half year old. After doing alot of reasearch on more expensive sets, we settled on this one because of the price. The quality is good for the price but not comparable to some of the really expensive sets. There were some difficulties with the directions. My husband and father took about 2 and a half days to put it togather. Toward the end, the instructions seem to change and don't make much sense. But they figured it out.Now that it is togather, I love the look and my son loves it too. I can hardly get him to come in the house now. I think he will get many years of enjoyment from this set. I do plan to apply a clear coat protector ASAP. I called the company and they will not honor any type of warranty unless you apply a protective clearcoat yearly. So far we love our purchase! 04/12/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★by My daughter loves it! It took my husband about 3 days to finish this. Most people could probably get it done quicker, but he kept misreading the directions!!! It is sturdy and my daughter has loved it so far. My husband says the directions could have been a little clearer, but otherwise it was pretty well laid out. Having all of the hardware seperated was a huge plus! A friend who built a similar playset suggested buying some type of water seal to preserve the quality of the stain and wood. Now, if only the rain would go away so my daughter can get outside and enjoy her playset!!!! 03/14/2010
Rated 4 out of 5 My kids are SO excited! We really depended on the reviews to assist us through the build. Thanks everyone! Hopefully we can offer some insight to help others who purchase this product. We have two daughters...4 and 1.It took my husband from 8:30am-5:30pm to complete the set. He had assistance for about 6 of those hours from a friend. 30 min of the time was spent sorting out the wood. 30 minutes was spent for lunch. 8 hours of build time. One small piece was broken on arrival. We were able to still use it, thankfully. Another piece broke during construction. My husband says, "Do NOT use a hammer!" The wood is indeed soft and spits very easily. It comes with a hex bit for a power drill. He HIGHLY recommends using it!!! Having the drill really saved a LOT of time.My husband and his friend put the numbered side of the wood pieces up... until I came out and asked them to start turning them over... no need for those little black numbers to be showing, right??? Just something to think about before building... some may not think of it.Just as everyone said, the directions were great until a certain point toward the middle/end. They were able to get through it, just as everyone else was, thankfully. For some reason, there were two extra wood pieces left over and a lot of hardware as well....We will be putting a water sealant on it tomorrow.Everything seems very sturdy. When the kids are on the platform, it goes up and down just a bit, but I'm confident in the support bar underneath. We purchase the wheel to go on the set. I'll attach a photo. The kids loved it. The other photo is of (almost) all of the pieces laid out. The photos that others posted are great and ours looks just like theirs. Perhaps the photo will give you some insight on what the box and pieces are like?? (something different to view, anyway!)Overall, we're thrilled about the purchase and the build. We do wish that the wood was stronger, and hope that it holds up over time... however, for the price, we feel that we got a great product. 05/15/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★by Confusing Directions The swingset is beautiful once it is assembled but it is time consuming to put up due to the fact that half way through the instructions they go from listing the parts as h1, or r1 to like wnp2002(something like that) so you have to refer back to the front of the book for each part to make sure you have the correct piece. Also it doesn't always specify which washer to use, and we realized we had used the wrong washer halfway through. It all turned out okay in the end but it was still frustrating. The wood also spilts very easily, it says not to over tighten, but tightening at all on some pieces caused it to start spilting. The swing beam is alot smaller than we'd expected; definately need to follow weight requiremnets!Still, we are happy with the results, just wish that the directions would've been clearer, it would've saved A LOT of time. 03/14/2011
