Easier to set up then expected. The frame is nice looking and not cheap or cheesy which was one of my concerns. The work station is perfect for my son. Enough room for a computer and homework books etc. Love the price too!

I bought the DHP Full size loft bed from Walmart.com using Site to Store. I paid $299. You will need at least a mid size SUV to put this badboy in your car. Unless you plan on putting it on top with a roof rack. It's not light. The box was quite heavy and require two people for lifting. No, unless your wife is a crossfitter, she will not suffice. The box is also very long. Once I got it moved into my house, I unboxed everything and then brought each piece, one by one, into my son's room. I began to put it together with my wife's help. This also a two person job. It took my wife and I about an hour to put the bed together. Not hard at all, but some parts of the instructions weren't as easy to follow. Took some time to take some parts back apart and put it back together the right away. After it is was said and done, my six year son was in love. He absolutely love his bed. He hung some blankets from the top and made himself a fort. Bed is sturdy. Yes, when you move it does make some creaks, but that is to be expected when the bed frame is all metal pipes laid across. My wife and I have been on the bed with our son and have found no problems. The guard rails on top are about 5 inches taller than the mattress and helps us not worry about our son falling off. All in all, we like this bed. Our son is 6 and can use the bed for many years to come. The desk below is a great addition. The bed is about 6ft tall and we have 8 ft ceilings. Fits great. I'm happy with this purchase for $300.

So, you can't walk under the bed standing up if you're over 4'4"? Is that true? Does everyone just bend over and sit down or look in the drawers? Does that become the reason people stop sleeping in lofts? They seem a perfect solution for a small room but at 13 my son is already 5'7". Is it something people just get used to? Thanks for any help or views. I'm so tempted to buy it.

    • I'm 5'2'' and I have to bend a bit underneath. If your not going to spend a lot of time underneath then I don't see a problem

    • I just measured to the bottom of the mattress and it is 5'. When my son goes under he has to bend over. I don't think this is a problem to go in and sit at his desk. but I think I will turn the dresser around and have the drawers face out the end. There is a bar (brace) that goes across the bottom that is about 5.5" from the ground, but our kick board on his dresser is the same so it will work for the bottom drawer. This way he doesn't have to bend over to get his clothes.

    • Correct - you can't walk under it standing up. My daughter is 5'9" and has to bend over. It's not that big of deal - she sits at the desk portion just fine and has a big ol' round chair that she sits in to watch TV from. Her friends all adore it under there - like a little fort - I just plan on getting some bean bag chairs to make it a crash pad.

    • No, I'm 5' 3" and I hit my head on it once. However, that is pretty much how lofts are. I had one in college and dealt with the same thing.

    • No you would duck under to sit in the desk chair, and there is plenty of headroon for that. My grandson is 6' and has no issues whatsoever. I am 5'6" and only barely duck under. The whole unit to the top of the side rails is 6 feet again at the top, the mattress suport portion is just above the 5' level if that helps.
