Rated 5 out of 5★ by Works Great! I needed an adapter for my old clicky IBM keyboard to my new computer. No more ps2 connections on the new ones. Well, I researched a good bit and found that you need an adapter with the correct electronics built in to it to make them work together. The cheap $5 ones won't do itI plugged it up and the keyboard worked perfectly. I highly recommend paying a little more for this one to make sure that it works properly. 11/16/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Works where other brand failed Got a new computer, realized from pics on the site it had no ps/2 plug for my old keyboard (already using usb mouse). Either I needed an adapter or a new usb keyboard...Tried an old "direct" adapter I had lying around - as expected it did not work because it's more complicated than simply changing the plug (usb and ps/2 have different signalling requirements or some such). Tried a different brand model that looks similar to this one -- except the little square "box" in the middle on this Adesso is a fair bit larger, at least *implying* there is some kind of pc board inside it. The other adapter seemed to work and I was thrilled to be able to keep my ergonomic old keyboard -- but after a while the keyboard would suddenly just not *be* there, couldn't ctrl-alt-delete to get out or anything because *no* keyboard. Restart and it worked again - for a while, then quit again. Some searching around, and someone on a different site said this Adesso model was the ONLY one that worked properly for him because it apparently handles data correctly in both directions. Can't say *only* myself, but this time it works like a charm for me too! - no keyboard disappearing! (Installed driver itself on startup and then ALSO wanted to check with Microsoft "for better driver", hung up there and I told it to skip that - works perfectly ever since.)Thanks Adesso/Walmart! (Love the free site to store shipping, too!) 07/07/2012
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Mostly useless I tested this item for about a day and found out that it does not suit my needs. I am going to return it to the store. My objective was to connect my IBM Type M cllicky keyboard to my computer's USB port. Some reviewers here have indicated that this adapter works fine for them, while other have pointed out problems. I bought one with the hope of being among the lucky ones. Unfortunately I wasn't.In retrospect, I can see that the reason for the mixed opinions on this product lies in the meaning of "it works". Yes, it works, in the sense that it lets you use your keyboard for ordinary typing. No, it doesn't work, in the sense that it gets confused by triple key combination such as Shift-Ctrl-UpArrow which are important for many computer games. In summary, for normal typing this a good product. For computer games, forget it.PS: I wish I had an alternative I could recommend. I don't. 07/24/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Works As Advertised The keyboards that come with new computers (even name brand) are cheap junk. I simply cannot use them. I love the feel of an IBM type big key spring action keyboard. But alas, mine is so old I already had an adapter on it to connect it to a PS/2 machine. And when my newest PC arrived, it only has USB connections. So, I looked for and found the Adesso adapter at Walmart online. With their no shipping pickup service and generous return policy, I figured I'd give it a try. It came in less time than I allowed and works exactly as advertised. I could not be more pleased (unless computer manufacturers send better keyboards with new machines!). 09/30/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Works percisely as advertised. I am fond of one of the older Keyboards that only connect via PS/2 terminals. This adapter has saved the day and extended the life of my favorite keyboard. Works perfectly. Would recommend without hesitation. 02/25/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Didn't work for my configuration The unit seems to be well made, and would probably work for most setups, but it didn't work for what I needed it to do. I run multiple computers through a KVM switch and although I tried this product on two different cables and computers, neither computer saw the keyboard or mouse. On one of the computers, the BIOS reported that the USB controller was initialized, said that it saw one mouse and one keyboard on the bus, but no mouse movement or keyboard input was recognized either under the BIOS nor by the OS. 02/02/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Works as advertised Item was as least through the first two weeks of ownership. Description on website could have been more detailed for my taste, but that's probably because I'm not familiar with the variation on configurations of the many possibilities/combinations of adapters. If item fails prematurely I'll update my evaluation. Otherwise I'll be a contented buyer. 01/07/2013
