This weather station displays all the essential weather conditions with accuracy. Having the wind speed and direction along with rainfall amount is a major plus. Being a NWS storm spotter, I can now accurately relay my conditions to them.

This is an upgrage from an other acurite product. Easy to set-up and use (very user-friendly and well thought-out). Neighbors are planning to get a reciver and piggy-back off of my sender. Very happy with purchase and impressed with product.

Great little instrument cluster with wireless inside unit. Also outputs temperature data to my existing Oregon Scientific display as well. Has a "storm alert" alarm you can turn on (based on a dramatic drop in barometric pressure). One thing I really like about this weather station is the center is around weather. Other weather stations I looked at were more centered around the time and indoor temperature. I don't need that. I want to know what the weather is outside, not inside. We mounted ours 4' above the privacy fence to limit thermal heat and to ease replacing the batteries, which reviews on other weather forums say last around 14-18 months. Keep that in mind when deciding on a mounting location. Also remember in the city there are lots of objects that deflect wind, increase humidity (like nearby pools), and increase heat (like concrete, so if you're looking at NOAA or The Weather Channel and you're off by a few degrees or the wind direction is not exactly spot on just remember why and adjust your mounting location accordingly.

    • No, it is not wall-mountable. The only way you're going to get it on the wall is on a shelf.

    • You could put it up with some double stick tape, otherwise it has a base it sits in for table top viewing.

    • I mounted mine to the kitchen wall. I had to add two protruding screws to the back of the display, whose heads then enter and then slide into a home made metal bracket. This bracket I then screwed is srcewed the wall. I adjust the screw protrusion height so that I get a very snug fit to the wall so that when you press a button, there is no movement in the display.

    • Yes it can be wall mounted. I use mine on the desktop with the supplied stand. It takes 1 nail or screw to mount to a wall. No other wall mounting pieces required.

    • No. And don't bother buying this piece of junk. It WILL fail within a couple of weeks (according to the reviews on Acurite's own website). Mine failed within two days.

    • It has a 2 cup system that empties itself. If the little drain should happen to catch leaves, there's a little piece you can lift out and empty and pop right back in.

    • It's self emptying, has a spoon that collects rain, once it reaches .01" of rain, the weight of the rainwater tips the spoon and dumps the water out the bottom of the outdoor sensor, so no human intervention is necessary. You may need to clean it once in awhile. It gets debris in the inlet from leaves, birds, etc.

    • You don't. It doesn't actually catch and retain the rain but just let's the rain pass through it and gets measured not only for the amount of rain but also the rate at which it's raining. You do need to have some access to the unit to clean a screen at the bottom of the collector in case leaves or stuff drops into it.

    • It has an auto empty catcher. Rainfall falls into the cup and flows inside the device and into another cup that when full tips down and empties. Each empty is roughly .02 inches of rain.
