    Good economy gaming system The 3.4GHz quad core Intel i7 processor rates a 7.6 on the 1 to 7.9 windows experience scale as does the memory. The NVidia graphics card has 2GB of dedicated memory & rates at 6.7, with the SATA-III harddrive coming in as the bottle neck at 5.9. Out of the box this is a good system for anything upto and including gaming.Someone with some basic technical know-how can easily ramp up performance by turning off paging and for a hundred bucks you can add a solid state drive, recover Windows 7 to that drive, and overall system rating is boosted to 6.7 with a noticably faster boot time. The 8GB of installed DDR3 memory is expandable to 16GB which while not necessary, gives quite a large amount of breathing room, particularly if you run multiple virtual machines. Most solid state drives are 2.5" so you can install one of those using a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter.Unmodified, you can do pretty much anything imaginable with this system so it's upgradability is more or less, icing on the cake. Walmart's price was about $50 less than other big box entities and I'm guessing the free shipping to the store amounts to $25 to $50 savings in home delivery depending on how fast you think you need it. 03/14/2012
