Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5★ by 10reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Decent Quality - Exceptional Value - A Keeper I bought two pairs of Able Planet Traveler's Choice Noise Cancelling Headphones for my wife and I to use on a trip to Australia. We spent nearly 45 hours in the air and used these nearly the entire time we were airborne. On the return trip, I got a chance to compare them side-by-side with a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones. Here's how I would compare the two:Sound Quality: I would say the QC15 cut out about 90% of the surrounding noise while the APTC cut out about 75-80%. But, when connected to the aircraft's audio feed, the QC15 had a consistent high-pitched buzz while the APTC did not have such a buzz. While the buzz in the QC15 was noticeable, it was not a huge distraction.Volume Control: The APTC includes an in-line volume control switch while the QC15 did not. I found that for some purposes (like listening to background music at low volume while sleeping) were just too loud on the QC15. The APTC allowed me to set the volume to exactly what I wanted.Construction: The APTC is completely made out of plastic. It is solid, but more fragile than the QC15 which is typical Bose quality. Having said that, after 11 days of traveling and 40 hours of use, our APTC headphones are both still in new condition - except for one airplane plug that broke (but I attribute this to a poor location for the plug in the seat and not to the APTC's design).Comfort: I must admit that the QC15 was more comfortable around the ear than the APTC. I'm not sure I can explain why, but after several hours of wearing the APTC, I found my ear hurting. After adjusting the angle of the APTC around my ears, the pain went away. Just know that the angle the headset sits over the ear will make a difference in your comfort.Battery life: I can't really compare the two on this topic because I didn't have the QC15 long enough to determine battery life. But, I do know that the APTC made it through the entire trip (40 hours of use) on the original battery that shipped with the headphones. I expect I will need to change the battery soon. But 40 hours is pretty decent.Value: This is where the APTC shines. at roughly 20% of the QC15's $300 price tag, the APTC is an incredible value.Summary: While the construction and noise cancellation aren't in the same class as the Bose Quiet Comfort 15, the Able Planet Traveler's Choice headphones performed adequately. Adequate performance coupled with a price that is 20% of the QC15 make the Able Planet Traveler's Choice an exceptional value and is why I will continue use them in the future. 06/26/2012
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Nice I compared these for a week to the Haier earbud noise-canceling headphones. These do a respectable job in blocking background noise. They especially block constant 'white noise' such as a loud fan or airplane engines. I like the features that the wire unplugs out of the headset, and there is an indicator light so you don't forget they are on. The only negative is the cushioning could be a bit deeper and softer. 07/20/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great starter product from a very unknown company. Excellent product with little extras like wire that connects & disconnects to Headphone, so if & when the wire goes, you can order that instead of the whole headphone. This is my second, the first I sold to my step-son, who uses it to record music. I had no issues with either headphone. I consider the price a steal! 06/20/2012
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Good Sound -- comfortable -- vulnerable I have owned mine about a year. I find them comfortable. They do very well on the plane (including noisy C-17s and C-130s) in blocking out even severe engine noise.Unfortunately, if the headband goes, they are unusable. At the pivot on top, the thinner pieces fatigued sooner than they should have. They are unusable until I figure out a way to "Duct tape" them together. I like them well enough to do that. 11/15/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Noise Canceling is excellent! Very impressed with noise canceling abilities. This product is as good as products I've had costing four times as much. These headphones are light, easy to use and pack away nicely in its case. Recommend them highly! Very good value for the money. 12/07/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Great Value I was looking for an inexpensive set of noise cancelling headphones to use on the plane. This is my first set of phones so I did not want to spend over a $100.00 I found these. When they arrived I tried it out and it definitely met my expectations. In fact I have ordered another set that I will give to my son for Christmas. 12/14/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Good Value I have recently used these head phones on a flight and was surprised at the noise cancellation. What really surprised me was how loud the airplane was as evidenced by turning the feature on and off. The price is reasonable and the sound quality is pretty good. I cannot feedback on the durability as I just purchased. 12/25/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Work great! I read reviews for a lot of different noise canceling headphones. I chose these and am glad. They work great, do a great job cutting down on noise from the mower and sander. Comfortable even after a few hrs of wear. You can spend a lot more, but it doesn't seem necessary. Good value for the money. 08/21/2013
