Wanted a phone that didn't need electricity...
7/9/2011

Customer review by Carolcatlover

5.0 stars by Carolcatlover

Just had a phone jack on my kitchen wall repaired-wanted a phone that had caller i.d. with call waiting and did not need to be plugged into an electrical outlet to operate. Even though I saw mixed reviews of this phone I decided to take a chance. Got it today and was able to easily switch it from table mounted to wall mounted. Did have some problems programming numbers but finally figured it out. I am going to wait a bit to see how well it holds up, but am already thinking of purchasing another to use in a different room and replace a cordless phone. Like the idea of the caller id being right on the phone and having the ability to use it if the power goes out. Also, I did change the handset cord to a longer one that I had in the house but was easy enough to do so, and if I had had to buy one I wouldn't have minded the expense since the phone itself was reasonably priced.

Hey, it's a phone. It works and works well. Important to me was that I could swap out the handset cord for a long, long one. Some phones have the cord hard-wired in, but this one uses the standard jacks. 'Tis good.

Excellent little phone

Had to replace the phone in my bathroom when my cat decided to toss the old one in the toilet. This little phone is great! Nice looking, works great and a nice little "extra", if it's not hung up properly, it emits a nice loud sort of siren noise to alert you!

  • The cord is not very long- maybe reaches 5-7 feet max. You are able to replace the cord with a longer one if you want.

  • Supplied cord is prob 4 to 6'. Can you replace it? Yes. No sweat. This was a crucial point for me. I myself swapped out the curly handset cord that came with it for a long 25' cord. Works fine.

  • The curl cord, without measuring, is approximately 1 ft. Yes, it can be removed & replaced with a 12 ft or even a 25 ft cord. Unfortunately, Walmart does not have them in stock. Don't let this fact prevent you from purchasing the product!
