hi, appreciate any help can get. I have had cornea transplants as well as cataract and glaucoma (implants) surgeries am legally blind to so and have to use a. tears often to eyes so irritated always. docs. say to use the preserv. free and the vials are best but they are so costly to I use them often daily I have been using mostly bottled ones. I usually get what is called 'gel' ones. they are thicker not watery so not drip right out of eyes' . my docs'. give me samples of the systane, refresh, etc. which are not called gel but are the thick ones I really need. are these thick or watery? thx. so much.

  • They are not like a gel. The doc is right because the preservative free is a lot kinder to your eyes. These do have a re-closable cap but should not be used any longer than 12 hours once opened. Although not a gel with the cap being able to keep it up to 12 hours I can do my eyes about 5 times within the 12 hours so they aren't as expensive as one might imagine. Blessings to you.

  • This is not thick, but a tear-like liquid. If you need a gel, this is not for you. It will drip out of the eyes and doesn't last as long as s gel. I have severe dry eyes, and I use these drops, but I have to put them in every 15 minutes or so, and yes, they are very expensive.
