About this item

The best of the Chinese and Japanese fighting styles are put to the test in this Shaw Brothers classic from legendary director Lau Kar-Leung ("The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin"). Gordon Liu ("Kill Bill" films) stars as a Chinese martial arts student struggling to relate to his new Japanese wife. When a series of martial misunderstandings spirals into an international incident, he's forced to take on seven of Japan's most powerful martial arts masters, each an expert in a different discipline, ranging from karate to samurai to ninjitsu. As relevant, fun, and unpredictable now as the day it was made, "Heroes Of The East" combines "meticulous fight choreography with compelling storytelling" (Kung Fu Cinema) to make a timelessly entertaining film.

Audio Commentary, Trailer Gallery, Languages: Mandarin, Cantonese and English, Subtitles: English SDH (Subtitles for Deaf and Hearing Impaired) and Spanish.

Showcases Various Weapons And Martial Arts Styles

Customer review by DJEmir

5.0 stars by DJEmir

This movie does a good job of showcasing many styles and weapons of martial arts in a very humorous and entertaining way. It is also known by its other name Shaolin Challenges Ninja. The drunken fighting scene and his way of tricking the drunken master to show him drunken style are particularly worth watching as are many of the fight scenes in the movie. If you like this movie other titles of interest by Featuring Gordon Liu would be 8 Diagram Pole fighter, death of white lotus (or fist of white lotus) Shaolin and Wutang, 36 Chambers and return to the 36th Chamber. - www.djemir.com

China vs Japan Weaponry

Customer review by ShawBrothersFan

4.0 stars by ShawBrothersFan

Campy Shaw Brothers film staring Gordon Liu and Kurata, rivalry of China vs Japan. This film showcases the different styles and weapons with the ending downplaying the tension and bridging past differences for a unifying harmony between the two countries. What is enjoyable is to see the technique of the weaponry in actual usage.
