I'd been looking for quite some time for a desk that I could not only use for my computer, but with some storage and most importantly...work space! Being in school, I need to be able to access my computer as well having room to lay out textbooks and have writing space, too. This desk fit the bill perfectly. The design is well thought out, useful, and doesn't take up alot of room. It not only looks good, functions as I need it to....it was the most affordable desk I had found! I can't speak as to putting it together, as my boyfriend did it for me. However, I didn't hear alot of cursing and carrying on, so I'm assuming it wasn't too much trouble. He was finished in a couple of hours or so. Thanks Wal-mart, for offering a great product at an affordable price. I highly recommend this desk! Oh yeah...I used site to store. The product was delivered timely, and was in perfect condition.

Very Nice Desk

First of all, this desk does not take no 2-4 hours to put together. I put it together, by myself, in less than 1.5 hours. The only reason it took that long is because I didn't have a power screwdriver and had to do everything by hand. The desk is study and very nice. Yes, there were a few chipped corners, but nothing a black marker couldn't fix!! It's like a lamanent on plywood (maybe not exact, but close) so there will be some chipping. The directions were pretty easy to follow...and are clear enough that though some pieces weren't labeled, it didn't take long to figure out what was what. The back to the storage cabinet was missing a corner, but I didn't want to put that on anyway. I don't need the cd rack either, so I left all that out to be able to put more school books there. All in all, a great desk for the price!!

The desk does what it's suppose to do. I bought this desk to use as a computer/work/study desk. Being a college student, I needed a desk that was large enough to accommodate several open textbooks while still providing enough room to write. The L portion of the desk provides plenty of room to do this. The original design of the desk limits the size of the monitor that can be use. I had to modify the desk a bit in-order for my 22" monitor to fit. I simply removed the disc rack (tray?) area and used angle braces to reinforce the top piece with the side piece. I then filled the holes with wood filler. Not bad for a relatively inexpensive desk.

I watched this desk for a while before I decided to buy it, and was so excited when I got the email it was shipped to the Walmart near me. The pick up was really easy. Although the box was really heavy. You will not be able to get the full box in your house with out some help. As soon as I got it home I started putting it together. As earlier reviews has mentioned, the directions are confusing. There were a lot of parts that I had to rearrange. But for the most part it was easy. It is good to have someone help you put it together. It just makes things easier to have someone hold the part while you screw in the nail. The one problem I had, and I almost sent the desk back, was the part where the CD's are supposed to go. I think that's parts 16 and 13. The holes were placed wrong, so the CD backing didn't fit when I tried to connect it to the rest of the desk. But what I did was leave part 16 out, and put the rest of the desk together, and then just slid the backing it into place. Its not screwed in, but it really doesn't make a difference because it's just the backing for the CD console. The desk is not made of strong wood. Seems to be made out of some plywood material. But it is strong enough to hold my laptop and printer. And it looks expensive even though its not. So I'm happy with the desk.

I bought this to replace a corner desk. The kind that has a small foot print but goes up to the ceiling. This has a larger foot print but looks more sophisticated I changed a couple of things to accommodate my headphones and CD storage. The cabinet with door is a nice touch as well. It can hide some things. I am going to put a small lock on it. I have seen things like this on the web for $50 -$70 more plus shipping. So this was a steal for me.

Great product for the price. A few boards were not labeled but it was not hard to figure out where they belonged. One had a small chip on the corner. Does take a while to put it all together but is worth it. Can't find an L-shaped hutch desk for this price! I love it :) Love having the extra work space on the side and it has lots of room for my desk supplies and books.

I read the reviews on this desk prior to buying it and people seemed to either love it or hate it. My husband put it together for me with help from his friend, and we did take the suggestion to use wood glue which I would also recommend. It was a great suggestion. The desk is great!! Its sturdy and has my computer and printer along with a pieace of glass we use to help protect it. For the price I have to say its wonderful, I am so much more comfortable now working on school and playing games. I thought it would be cheaper made but I think its nice. I would recommend this desk to anyone. The only thing I wish now is that it had a drawer on the bottem to keep paper and books. My 18inch monitar fit great.

I had this delivered to my house because the size and weight looked very intimidating. I even had the FedEx guy bring it inside my front door. But, it wasn't that bad at all. Not saying I could lift it into my car by any means, but I was able to pull out each piece easily. I received everything intact- no missing or broken pieces at all. I put it together by myself in just about two hours, despite a lot of distractions and two little "helpers" messing with screws lol. The main desk part takes like three minutes, and after that was done, I used the top to help assemble the rest so I didnt have to sit on the floor. The instructions were really easy and straighforward, it was like fitting puzzle pieces together. I didnt have any problems with the keyboard tray or anything else, but I use a laptop so not really sure what I would use that tray for anyway, maybe some pencils or tape. I really like the desk, it is very spacious. It will for sure serve my purposes for now- I even hope it will accomodate a filing cabinet underneath. For some reason I cant explain, I didn't actually know the "wood" was so thin- it definitely will not hold up to a move. But I furnished my entire house with Walmart so can't complain!

i bought this desk with the intention of using it for scrapbooking. i had been searching for a long time for exactly what i wanted but didn't want to spend $500+. i found this desk for $100!! site to store did take a little longer than i expected (about 2 weeks) but still wasn't bad. assembly was fairly easy, as long as you read the directions/pictures. after a few SIMPLE modifications (added a pegboard across the back, dowel rod in the middle, and cut some extra spaces in the cd rack) this is PERFECT for ALL my scrapping needs!!!

I got this desk for my 13 yr old for Christmas. It is very heavy put did fit in my car trunk for transport. I was very careful not to bump it and I can say there was not a scratch on it once unwrapped. It's packaged pretty good, not excellent but good if you are careful. I put it together myself, it took 2 hours, no drill used but looking back that would have been better. The pre-drilled holes are nothing more than pinpoints for some of the holes and I did end up with a blister. A child cannot put this together! About 1/4 of the pieces were not numbered, that did cause some delay but I figured it out. (FYI, piece #5, which is one of the first ones you use, is the smallest piece in the box and black.) All the holes matched up perfectly. The rack on the side only holds CDs, not DVDs or games. One thing I may do is buy some black foamboard (sold at walmart too) and cut it to fit the back of the hutch and tack it up, like done on the back of the cabinet. All in all, my kid loves it and it is worth the price online now. I've attached a photo taken this morning. We did not attach the sliding tray (this was the last step also) because he didn't want that and it in no way affects the function or look of the desk. We also sat it to where the 'arm' of the desk is not against a wall but facing the room. This set-up looks good and he doesn't have walls in front of him. Very nice, good buy, just be careful with unpacking!!

I don't want to have the L against a wall, is the particle board on that side finished or does it just look like particle board?

  • A. The CD rack area is a very shallow storage space designed specifically for housing CD-sized objects. It is possible to remove parts of the CD storage structure, but doing so may impact the stability of the top shelf. If your CPU is as thin as, or thinner than, a CD case, it can fit between the two walls of the CD storage area. It is possible to remove just the back of the storage area, and maintain the support for the top shelf, by doing so. Then you open up the whole depth of the desktop to support your CPU (assuming it fits between the two remaining walls, which are only about 6" apart)

  • A. It's almost 6 inches wide and about 26 inches high. You can leave the CD holders out and just have an open space so your CPU would probably fit if it was less than 6 inches wide.

  • A. You would only be able to place a very slim CPU there, such as a slim & sleek from HP - If I had to guess it is probably only 4-6 inches in width.
