Meanwhile, back in another part of the universe... This is more of a side story than a continuation of the storyline from the game. None of the characters in the game even appear in it. The main character was from the prequel book "Revelation." It mainly serves to reveal more about certain groups that were more peripheral in the game: Cerberus, human biotics, and the Migrant Fleet. Drew Karpyshyn is still a superlative writer and story-crafter, and I did enjoy learning more about the intriguing Mass Effect universe, but the book didn't do anything to tease at or get me excited for the next game... which is probably just as well, since it hasn't even been announced at the time of this review and thus won't be out for more than a year. 12/11/2008
