I am interested in buying the Garmin model 760. I would like to know what is exactly in the box other than the GPS unit. Any attachments, cords, or do I have to buy a kit with this 760.

    • A. The 760 comes with a power cable for your cigarette lighter, an adapter cable so you can download information from your computer and a suction mount for your dashboard. You're good to go with just the purchase but I also bought a friction pad which allows me to move the unit out of sight when I desire.

    • A. Everything you need is in the box. The windshield mount is included and all the cords are as well. You just take it out and plug it in. The first time you use it, be sure to have it outside so the satellite can get a clear connection to it. Be sure to get the 760 and not the 750. The 750 doesn't have bluetooth, plus the 750 is being discontinued.

    • A. EVERYTHING! The unit, of course, charger cord for car, also doubles for real-time traffic navigation available at additional cost of $60 for the entire year. Has saved us countless hours which would otherwise have been spent in gridlock - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also includes suction cup for mounting to windshield/dash, USB to connect for downloads/charging on the computer. Does not include carrying case, but can buy cheap at Radio Shack, Staples, Walmart, etc. First 760 cost $600 about 2 years ago. Just bought a 2nd one from Walmart for $250 for C'mas.

I haven't fully done everything with the GPS. I just needed to find my way around confusing Houston. Only problem I've had (probably because I haven't fully read the instructions), was once I started fiddling with the bluetooth and my radio, the sound has not returned to the unit. I love that I can stick it to the widshield, then take it with me, and put the charger in the glove compartment. It loads up fairly quickly, compared to the Mio I had previously. I like the bigger screen and it stays charged for a long time. I guess I will get it's full potential when I read the instructions. LOL. BUY IT, IT'S WORTH IT!!!

I have experience the garmin 760 for 1 month now and I think its great. I find it to be very accurate and the maps are great. Sometimes it doesn't take me to the fastest route even when fastest route is chosen, but when i hit detour its right on the money. I live in Chicago and I use it to see if the directions are the shortest and its pretty good even though I know where I'm going. I am very satisfied with the 760. I hope in future models you speak the directions and it takes you there. The bluetooth is excellent and makes driving much easier when talking on the phone. My ultimate decision was based on a remote address that was just built within a few years and new and the garmin 760 gave me directrions to that address when other gps systems didn't, so do your homework thoroughly before deciding to spend your money.

This was a Christmas present for my wife. She was very happy with it. It performs what it's supposed to do and will get you where you need to go. Screen was very responsive and well lit. Auto adjusts brightness acoording to lighting conditions so it doesn't blast you out of the car at night. Volume is good until you roll down your window then it becomes a little difficult to hear directions. The traffic option will give you general information on traffic conditions in the area which was helpful when you need it. Unfortunately, Garmin didn't have the software support for my wife's cell phone or mine for that matter so the bluetooth option doesn't work for our cell phones, which are even two different models. Garmin really needs to be more proactive in updating they're web site for different cell phone models. I can imagine it is quite difficult since a lot of models become obsolete before you know it. Other than that it would of been nice if the FM transmitter cable was included.

What a wonderful gps unit. I use it constantly, it has never failed me. The maps are accurate, even smaller alleys to use as shortcuts are included in "best routes." Calculation times and routes are efficiently performed. The screen is highly visible even in bright sunlight. The traffic updater is an accurate and convenient feature which works fine with the cable provided. It even has a setting to allow you to walk while using it although I have not as yet tried it. I recommend this unit without reservation. As a sidenote, in order to hear more of Karen's voice, especially on a long stretch where she can be painfully silent, one must intentionally veer off course. Very quickly she will pop back with her gentle admonishment: "Recalculating." Whereupon she will rapidly have you back on course only to require another incorrect turn for the pleasure of her company. I have not seen an update for Chatty Karen but I check back at the Garmin website faithfully. I hope this helps.

I gave this unit to my husband for Christmas, and I don't think a day has gone by that he hasn't told me how awesome he thinks it is. We recently moved to a community near Kansas City, and have found it very easy to get on the wrong highway or take the wrong turn until we got this Garmin. It may pay for itself just in the gas it saves us! Although today it did send us to a location that doesn't exist, I figure if that only happens once or twice a month, it's still a great product.

This is the second Garmin GPS receiver I've owned. The first a GPS III Plus has over 7000 hours on it. It hasn't missed a beat. I've also been able to use a few other units but Garmin has performed the best over all. The 760 maps were updated free by Garmin. Garmin tech support delivered as promised. I had called them prior to getting this new 760. The other units would have required paying for the updates, not Garmin. I've missed turns on purpose just to see how fast the unit recovered, faster than the others. The complaints are the audio is a little weak, but it has the fm transmit that works great. I would have like to see the vehicles speed be shown when using the route function side. I use the GPS speed for my actual speed and don't really watch the vehicles speedometer. I would buy a Garmin Gps again with no problems. I have known of other brands being returned for problems right out of the box. Both of my Garmins worked great right out of the boxs. The 760 menu is easy to use for first time GPS users.

The Garmin 760 seems to be a very good product. I have used several of the features on it and have gotten good results. Sometimes the unit will give me directions that I didn't expect since I use it driving around town and generally know the area and the best routes to take already. Sometimes it seems to give a less direct route even if there is no traffic issue, but for the most part it works great. The bluetooth feature is very nice. I have used it as well to make phone calls and since my phone has the voice activated feature on it, this is great when needing to call someone while driving. Unless you intend to use the bluetooth all the time, it is best to turn the feature off, both on the phone and the GPS or you will get constant interruptions saying the units are not connected if one of them is turned off. As stated in some of the reviews I read, the voice does delay sometime when telling you to make a turn or to get off on an exit so watch out for this or you might miss your exit and have to turn around.

This GPS is everything it is advertised to be. I had a GARMIN C330 Streetpilot before. It was a good GPS but it didn't announce the street names. This feature of the Nuvi 760 is very handy when driving because it allows you to keep focused on the road ahead. The large screen is also a plus, making it easier to read at a glance. The capability to receive traffic reports mseems to be a plus. I haven't had the opportunity to use this feature but believe it would be a great time saver and stress reliever during vacation and business travels. Also great to be able to upload pictures of the Grandchildren on the GPS to take with me when we travel. We can also upload music to listen to and even Points of Intersts in the areas we are traveling in. It also allows me to easily locate my car in a crowded parking lot (sporting event or shopping). The screen is easy to read and not complicated to use. Garmin is a name I trust and a company that has been in the business for years. I highly recommend this GPS to anyone who drives.

I've had this product for over 3 months. When I first got it, it had an annoying habit of 'stuttering'. After I downloaded the almost 2 Gbyte update, it seemed to go away for the most part. It works great here, but I've had mixed results other places. It especially struggled when I went to the Florida panhandle. Half the time, it would show my vehicle off the road. Although the directions given were accurate. On the West coast, it seems to be pretty dead on. Other than that, it has worked great and I am very happy with it. The construction and accident add-ons might be worth the extra cost if you drive a lot. It comes with a short trial period for these and it did re-route me around an accident one time, saving lots of time and hassle. I haven't even used the other great features, but I hope too soon. Overall, a great value for the price. I would have given it top marks except for that 'stutter' and the map problems in Florida. I would recommend buying!

The only complaints I have with my Garmin 760 are relatively minor: The bluetooth phone link does not work at all with some bluetooth phones. It works fine with voice for my RAZR, but the text messaging support is not fully-functional, seeming to miss most incoming texts. The SD card slot does not support SDHC cards, which limits you to 2 GB for most cards, with a few 4GB cards that can be found... not enough to fit my entire MP3 collection :( It'd be nice if the audio-out jack was on the charger base rather than the unit itself as I do not like having to unplug the cord everytime I detach the unit from it's mount. It would also have been nice to be able to have the audio output change from the FM transmitter to speaker automatically upon removal from the car mount. These are all relatively minor complaints with what is overall an excellent product. It boots pretty quickly, has not led me astray yet, the interface is easy to use, the MP3 player is a great function and the voice output with spoken street names is very nice.
